Interesting site where the castle was built

Nakagusuku Castle is visible evidence of the Ryukyu kingdom and is a perfect reflection of that period of time in Okinawa’s history. The natural rocks and the land surrounding the castle are in perfect harmony with the curving walls, this amazing feat allows us to appreciate the masonry skills of this ancient time.

My favorite castle on island by far. The views are spectacular. It is a lot of uphill walking and stair climbing but well worth it. This castle is also located right in front of the ever so popular rumored haunted hotel. Mind you, you can...More

The terrain where the castle was built is very interesting. Because a standing cliff is natural harm, you may know that it was worked well as a defense facility. You can observe the topography where the castle was built from the top. The...More

I went with our family on a very warm, summer afternoon. The employees were very kind. They didn't speak English but were prepared for English speakers with brochures and gestures. The parking lot is at the base of a hill. After a short walk, there...More

This place has breathtaking views and a great atmosphere. It's a bit off the beaten path so accessing it by public transportation is a bit tricky and time-consuming but it's well worth it. What made this visit absolutely memorable was the visit to the hotel...More

I waited for my family to come, from the States, to explore the castle closest to my home. The admission fee of 400 yen was reasonable. The grounds were lovely as we wandered around. We each had different perspectives. My one brother marveled at the...More

The castle is a unique example of a Japanese fortress built before the age of gun powder. You can walk almost anywhere you want. Because the castle is situated on top of a mountain, the views of the island are wonderful. It is not crowded....More

Visiting castle sites in Okinawa always mean a lot of climbing slopes, this one was no different. Steep steps down to the well site that was walled into the castle grounds after the original castle walls were built to safeguard the water supply. Not as...More

maybe because the bad weather, we could not spend much time discover this place. but for those who travel with little kids or elderly people, it's not very suitable since there are mostly steps and not good for trolleys or wheelchairs.
