Mt. Iwate is an extremely challenging hike, so if you are looking for a leisurely hike with some beautiful views- turn back now. The trail is well kept up. I've hiked here a few times in the past - there are several routes, and I have done the most. The longest is coming from the Amihari, which I decided to stay overnight in the cabin near the top of Mr. Iwate to see the sunrise. the other route is located near the JGSDF Camp Iwate.
