It's one of the highlights of our trip. There are said to be 12 ponds scattered around the road built to enable tourists to have a close watch and stroll along. There are easy parking spots so that most ponds can be visited with an...More

This blue pond is a natural phenom that is quite mysterious when you think about it. It was so beautiful even on a rainy morning and with a tour bus full of us trying to capture the moment on our cameras. The walk from the...More

Maybe it's over-rated. Its just a frozen block of bluish ice in winter in a forest clearing. Not sure what the hype is all about. Lots of tour buses with tourists.

Aoike (Blue Pond) is one of the many ponds and lakes of Juniko. It surely deserves the name, being so incredibly blue. Usually the sky reflecting on water makes it blue, but here I think it's reversed. The blue of the pond paints the sky...More

The pond is petite. The pond is half full of fallen leaves. The blue might be from the stories of those fallen leaves. The water becomes blue as the stories make the water weep. The blue tears make the pond blue.

The blue colour and clarity of this tiny lake is remarkable. You can spot fish swimming between the submerged logs. It is well worth exploring the surrounds as well as the other larger lakes offer beautiful scenery.

I do not know for sure, but I would suspect that by the time October rolls around bus service has been discontinued for the winter.
