We were at Farm Tomita Lavender East at the right time when the lavender was in full bloom. Smell of the lavender is so sweet and the rows and rows of lavender is so beautiful with backdrop of beautiful mountain. View from the look out point is superb. We even took the tractor to have a close view of the rows of lavenders.

Besides lavender you have to visit Farm tomita planted with other flowers and not to be miss is the rainbow slop. Such beautiful view.

Do plan your trip in mid july for the best view when lavender is at full bloom. However a gentle reminder that hotels around Furano are very very expensive due to peak season and good to book early.

We spend about 4 hours each at Farm Tomita Lavender East and Farm Tomita so it takes up almost one day for these farms.

Good recommendation to visit

There are many wonderful places that are not well known yet, so I went there early in the morning.

Indeed, there were not many people, and I was able to take many photos without other people in them.

The deserted lavender fields are "impressive!"

But! That's if you haven't seen Farm Tomita.

Seeing the spectacular lavender fields at Farm Tomita makes you feel powerless.

Since I went early in the morning, there should have been few people at Farm Tomita as well.

The scale of the lavender fields is completely different.
If I had gotten up early, I should have gone to Farm Tomita first.

I went in the beginning of May and there's not a lot of flowers blooming... I believe the key time to visit is in July, maybe late June. However, that being said, this was still a definite highlight of my trip. I missed my stop on the JR (it's NAKAfurano, got off instead at Furano station) and the tourist center said it's almost 10km away from foot. The next train would be an hour later. Seeing how it was frustrating that I spent almost >3 hours on transit from Sapporo, I decided to bike by renting from a nearby bike rental place. Boy it was one of the most scenic bike routes I have ever witnessed and I bike quite frequently back at home. The mountain ranges surround you as you go to the farm. It will still take a while (I think almost an hour) but I don't regret it for a second. Don't forget to try their unique Lavender ice cream for 300 yen!

3-hour bus ride from Sapporo for 3 photos.

Not worth going to. A small patch of lavender beds. A lot of locals and tourists.

The farm is more of a roadside tourist trap, with all the makings of a nice stop. Everything is focused on the Lavender Fields, musk melons, and other fruits and flowers sold there. There are lots of lavender products, but you don't know the country of manufacture for much of it. Parking can be difficult and most people are arriving via tourist bus. The crowds were the biggest downside, as there must have been 6-8000 people all trying to get a good photograph, without being allowed to close to the flowers for obvious reasons. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat.

From the photos posted on the Internet , I was a tad disappointed that the tomita lavender farm was of average size . There were lavender grown on two hill slopes and the smell was amazing .

The multi coloured flowers garden section were in different stages of bloom and I guess compared to Keukenhorf gardens in Amsterdam in spring , this flowers farm is quite small in size and with limited variety of flowers.

That didn’t stop the tourists though from flocking to this farm . They have some shops selling lavender products at reasonable prices nearby .

It was a nice day out driving to the country side ..don’t miss the melon ice cream next door .

The park did not impress. The ground may be large but not fully utilised. The touring bus was cheap but unnecessary as what was covered was small and could be seen plainly from anywhere. I do not hate it but if Tomita is 5 stars this can only be 2 stars. What can be mentioned is the manual water pumping tool which may be best spent with children.

The farm was again quite dead as it was not lavender season. The car park was literally empty. However, there were activities as in the cafes were open and the shops. Wow, the dried flowers shop was so magical. I felt like I have walked into a fairy tale era. So lovely! Plenty of lavendar products for you to purchase.

You need to plan your trip during the Summer time as there are train services stopping over at this wonderful spot. Plan your journey during the July till end August. You just have to walk 7 mins to the Farm Tomita to enjoy the colourful lavender beauty and at the same time get to taste the seasonal fruits being offered. I really love the lavender soft ice-cream. But do check the timing of the special Norokko train as it stops only at this Lavender Farm station.
