Turquoise and weird, and artificial apparently

But it's very photogenic. Being blue and artificial never did the Blue Lagoon any harm after all. It's very turquoise, rather weird, trees die in it and you'll take a gazillion... read more

We went in November hearing so much about the blue pond and utterly disappointed that it's frozen and covered with thick snow. Shame that it's not mentioned in any of the Furano tourism leaflet that the pond will be frozen during winter times.

The Blue Pond is a good brief stopover and during our visit certainly lived up to its reputation. It was fairly crowded even in low season and it might be line ball whether you braved big crowds during busier times of year. There was evidence of recent heavy rain on the way into the driveway with more potholes than passengers... More

So the pond itself is really spectacular because of how blue it is. I was later informed by a local living in Asahikawa that the pond is not natural. Apparently a typhoon had gone through and destroyed the whole pond a few weeks earlier and within two weeks it was completely restored and magically "fixed". Also if you are taking... More

I'm one of the rare people who used public transport to come here. I only had barely 20mins for the place due to the infrequent bus timings (plus the bus was late, I'm not sure if it's a common thing or just once off). There's nothing much to see except the pond. I had read that there was some waterfall... More

There is a car park, but no traveler facilities such a refreshments or toilets. A short stroll along the path brings you to the lagoon, which is akin to something seen in a movie. The water when we visited was incredibly blue and standing in the water are many old dead trees which give a slightly eerie atmosphere to the... More

It is definitely not as blue as the photos (photoshopped to look more blue than it is), but I won't say that it is not worth a visit. It takes just a short walk from the parking lot to the pond, so it does not take much effort. But with that you can enjoy the mirrored view of the trees... More

The water is just incredible. It really feels like you are in a movie set, with the spectacular blue water, sound of waterfall and the peacefulness of Japanese society
