We went to this place on a cloudy day so the water was not really famous 'Shakotan' blue, but it was still very beautiful. It would be spectacular on a sunny day. A very nice walk to the tip of the peninsula. Don't miss it if you visit this part of Hokkaido.

The view was breathtaking. Worth the walk up. Do not miss this place. The path to walk up is an easy trek.

Great place for enjoying some hours with the amazing surroundings. There is a free paking lot where you will leave your rented car. From here you hike up a little slope until reaching the top where will be amazed for the views. Then 15 more minutes walking will leave you at the end of the cape, with a fantastic landscape... We drove from Rusutsu to Cape Kamui. The journey took about 2 and half hours to reach. The view just magnificent and beautiful. Highly recommended to those who drive. Just took your time and walk till to the end, even my mom who are 76 years old managed to do it. You will love it.

I travelled around central and western hokkaido and did not come across extremely fantastically scenic views except for this one place. Although this place was not on the way to my next destination I do no regret coming here and also the climb is quite tedious and takes around 40 mins or so to get to the end with many... More

Breathtaking views of the sea. You will be rewarded with the endless sea view and lushes of greens. You may drive or take a bus from Otaru Bus Terminal. I suggest renting a car from Otaru. Plus, the road towards Shakotan-cho does not require you to pay tolls. It takes about 2 hours to reach (Otaru to Shakotan). Free parking... More

Take repellent with you. Small bugs can be quite disturbing like in Florida. It seems to depend on time, wind, temperature, humidity, etc., but you can get covered all over with them sometimes. You might also want to take sneakers with you as it is a 30 minute walk to the tip of the cape. However, it is worth all... More

I came here as a day trip from Sapporo. There is a direct bus route from Sapporo station which took around 3 hour but I preferred to take train to Otaru and then change to bus which still took lesser than 3 hours in total and slightly cheaper. The bus stop in front of the cafeteria and you have to... More

The cape Kamui is a marvel to be seen. Located a the far west side of Hokkaido island, the sights, sounds and smells that await the visitors are worth the ride! While the place might be better accessed by car than any other means, it is a wonderful place to stop on a sunny day. The steep sides of the... More
