This place took approx 90 minutes by Shinkansen from our place in Shinjuku. First we took JR to Omiya (Saitama) then moved to Shinkansen max toki 313 to Echigo Yuzawa. After reached the station in Echigo Yuzawa, Take Kagura Shuttle bus which runs from the west exit of the Echigo-Yuzawa train station in front of the Hatago Isen Café. There... More

Wide slopes, wild views, long season...everything here means what skiers and snowboarders are looking for near Tokyo. The transfer to the area is very handy. If you travel by train, only 80 minutes ride on Shinkansen takes you to Echigo Yuzawa Station and from there frequent bus services are available. If you drive from Tokyo, you can reach there with... The entire resort comprises of two parts, the Eastern Kagura and Western Tashiro. At Western Tashiro, there is a gondola connecting with Naeba. There are two car parks for this resort. Both are connected with a gondola to the ski area (the base). One is directly connected to Kagura and the other one to Tashiro. After reaching the ski area... More

I love Kagura and tend to visit every year. It's conveniently located close to Tokyo with the Shinkansen taking just shy of 90 minutes, and then a 20 minute bus ride to the gondola/ rental shop etc. Beautiful views from the top on a clear day, and if you are smart with your time, you can connect to Naeba

Varied terrains and runs but it is a trek to get to the lovely red and black runs from the gondola connecting across from Naeba. Get there early and leave in good time. Or hop on to a car or bus to drive out here to save time going on long connecting runs.

We had such fun time doing the skiing, snowboarding with teenage daughters. I have to say Kagura is such a massive place. It wasn't as helpful as it he Gala Yuzawa ski resort though. Everything in Gala is not hard to find without asking its all there in front of you, we even managed to meet 'Trent' the true blue... More

Seems like we came to Yuzawa way to early, almost all ski resort are still closed, lucky for us Kagura Ski Resort were the first one to open despite the thin snow. Getting there was not that easy because we have to take the bus. Bus schedules are not that frequent so make sure you check the schedule. We missed... More

Although I agree with other posts that this is a very local place with little English and no frills, that's why we liked it. Not very crowded just a day after Christmas. The scenery is amazing and the slopes not too difficult but could be boring for more advanced skiers. We rented at the main base lodge and not too... More

A relatively large ski resort in Yuzawa, with lots of green/"light" red courses/runs that beginners and intermediates skiers and snowboarders would enjoy. We went there when the area was hungry for snow on 2x Dec 2016, skiing in all three areas of Kagura, and found it still has reasonable amount of snow, some courses still with a bit of powder... Kagura Ski Resort is a great place for beginner as the slope is gentle. You can find many people learning here from the different ski schools. Rental of equipment for both snowboarding and ski is available at the base before you take the lift up. Do make sure you are suitably dress too. Waterproofing yourself is really very important. Rental... More
