I was visiting a forest after quite a long period and I did not expect the whole experience to be so memorable. Kudos to forest department for conducting these trips with so much of precision and perfection. The drivers and the guides are well versed, very alert and sharp.
Safaris are divided into morning and evening slots . All the paperwork is thoroughly checked. With crisp and sharp instructions after the introduction the vehicles are let in the park from Mukki Gate. There are various routes inside the park and it's left to the wisdom of the guide as to which path is to be followed. The landscape changes in each track and with each season and time of the day. It is almost magical.
We saw a tigress T 27 on the first day of the safari which people say is quite a deal. We saw a leopard too which is quite rare besides a variety of flora and fauna. The sound of the jungle is at times lost due to constant commentaries or by the clicks of the camera. I guess both are essential but too much soap opera kind of hilarious stories are created around the love lives of the tigers. It is just used to hype or build up the interest.
Park has clean rest rooms at demarcated places. At a fixed spot meals could be had . Surprisingly though the number of staff was less but every place was spic and span . I came back totally impressed and ready to explore some more of the parks .

I can't say enough about how great Kanha Jungle Lodge is!! Tarun & Dimple who run the lodge go out of their way to make sure each & every guest has the most incredible experience possible. The food is OUTSTANDING & the safaris are first class! The guides know the tigers by name, they know the areas of the park, the behavior of the animals, and will do whatever they can to put you in the best position to get the photographs you desire.
You can walk into an area (from the lodge) of the greater park, down by a river where there's also a possibility of seeing animals. And there are so many beautiful Sal trees full of beautiful creatures, you'll never lack something to see or do.
If you're going to Kanha National Park, this is the place to stay! And hats off to Amit Sankhala for continuing the legacy of his father & grandfather in protecting tigers & giving tourists a way to also fall in love with these majestic creatures via his lodges & ecotourism. 💜🐅💜

Tip:The lodge can secure U full or half day permits to go into the park. They also recommend you fly out of Raipur & can arrange transfers 4 U.

After two failed visits (Jan 19 & Feb 20) at last I saw tigers at Kanha Nation Park and Tiger Reserve. This time I went with my elder Sister and luck favored me. We did 5 Safari and on each visit to Park we saw Tiger. On 3 occasions the tiger encounter was on close proximity, and 2 occasions the tigers were bit far away.
The climate during April is very hot and dry, despite the difficult climatic condition we enjoyed our safari as we ware able to see the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger.
This time our Jeep driver was Naresh Yadav (+91 94073 19311) an excellent safari jeep driver and tracker. On 3 occasions he was at right place at right time which help us to see tiger at close proximity. He understands photographer needs and was able to place our jeep in right position which enabled me to take some great pictures.
I would also like to thank Shyam Yadav (+91 6263 823020) for excellent co-ordination in arranging the safari and car for our transfer. Thanks to Sunil Yadav (+91 94249 31455) for overall co-ordinations.

Kanha park is divided in 8 zones. There are 4 core zones and 4 buffer zones. The animals are spotted more in core zones. Buffer zones have lots of trees but less of animals. You need to book online tickets for entry in these zones. The online booking starts 4 months in advance and the core zones tickets are sold within a week. If you miss those tickets then you can book mukki buffer zone. Other buffer zones are of no use. The jeeps come to your resort to pick u. Strictly only 6 are allowed in the jeep. The seventh person if sitting in the jeep is not allowed. For morning safaris if you don’t enter the zone before 7.30, your booking is cancelled. There is a canter service (18 in a vehicle) of forest department, tickets of which are available the previous day but you have to stand in queue for atleast 3 hours. Few tickets of safari are now available in Tatkal 1 day in advance.

It's a gorgeous park. Totally worth the effort of getting there. Try and avoid getting into the rut of only looking to see tigers and spend time in the quieter parts away from the tiger jamborees. I would also recommend you try and read a little about the birds and animals you would find in Central India. Gives you a deeper appreciation of the park. When we were there last week, it got very cold though in the mornings (0 - 2 degrees celsius) and in the evenings (7-8 degrees) so just ensure you come ready with gloves, scarves, thermals, etc.

Took a train from Mumbai to Jabalpur and then a 4 hour cab-ride to
Kanha. We had not made our online booking for the jungle safari in advance. So we visited the kisli gate entrance to obtain the same. The counter opens at 630 pm in the evening. The charges are 4650 per jeep for 6 tourists. Children above 3 considered as full tickets. Bus is also available but covers limited area of the tiger reserve, we were told. One can also go to the gate early in the morning and make current bookings subject to availability. We had opted for the morning safari that started at 630 am and ended around 1130 am. They halt at a cafeteria and museum at around 930am for light refreshment and freshening up. We could spot lot of deer, barasingha, peacocks, monkeys barking deer etc. The pleasant weather was very ideal for the jungle safari.

This is a beautifully managed park. Everyone from forsest officers to the private safari guides are so mindful and respectful of the forest and the animals. I am looking forward to go visit this park again! If you are thinking about which gate to stay at, stay at Mukki and make visit to both Mukki/Kanha zones. It is the most efficient way of visiting the park if seeing tiger is ur main goal.

Kanha is one of the biggest National Parks in India. even though there are many types of animals in the Park, people throng for a view of the ever elusive Tigers. One need to book a seat in advance thrrough net. the chage for a six sitter hood open Maruti Gypsey is Rs. 5,000/-. If you have less than six persons, the NP authority will charge you the same amount nevertheless. So try to travel in multiples of six, to the extent possible.
All tourists have to go to one particular Entry Gate, from there depending on whatever has been written in your ticket, you enter into one of the four core zones or one of the four bufferzones.
Chance of sighting tigers is more in core zones. Luckily we made two attempts and both the times , we wre assigned core zones we had tiger sighting bothe the time. the sighting in the afternoon was so much of a close one that we could have kneeled and touched the passing tiger.
the beauty of the jungle is beyond is beyond world, We also saw hundreds of deers, hards of wild boars, bisons huze number of monkeys etc.
Be careful to carry your own water and snacks with you.

We spent 3 days in Kanha entering from the Kisili gate. There are several zones and all that we visited were stunning with an abundance of wildlife. We hired binoculars at the gate for 100 rupees which was well worth doing if you don’t have your own. We were lucky enough to see a tiger with her 3 cubs up close, an amazing experience. It is great that plenty of people get the chance to see tigers in the wild but the jungle telegraph is extremely efficient and before you know it there will be 20 jeeps around the sightings. It is a shame that they don’t open up more of the park as I believe that there is only access to 20% right now. With strict speed limits and no moving off the roads I don’t see that it would disturb the other areas. Overall it is a wonderful place and our favourite of the 3 parks that we visited and I would recommend it. Lots of birds, deer, langaur and much much more.

Went to Kanha NP last year during Diwali. Owing to holidays, could manage only 1 gypsy safari & 1 canter safari in Mukki zone during my two day stay there.
For Gypsy safari, started very early in the morning and was the gypsy at the gate. Somewhere I read the best guides are allotted to the first few cars, hence didn't want to take a chance since guide/drivers can make your or break your safari. But unfortunately the guide didn't arrive at the last moment and we were allotted another guide (might be a reserve one). As it turned out, he was not enthusiastic about spotting animals and somehow just wanted to pass time. We could not spot almost any animal except spotted deers and langurs.
In the afternoon canter safari, things were a bit better. Spotted few barasinghas and bisons. At one point we could also hear roar of a tiger and waited for about half an hour, but it didn't come out. Landscape wise, I would say it wouldn't compare with Dhikala at Corbett at all. A bit disappointing over all, guess my expectations were too high to start with.
