Decided to combine this with our Chureito Pagoda visit. The bus ride from Mount Fuji station was fairly straightforward. There are separate areas for male and female - blue for male, red for female, if I recall but do check. The men's outdoor onsen is about 100m from the indoor onsens and down a flight of steps - its a bit chilly without clothes on(!). The onsen users consisted of local Japanese men, not touristy at all. The outdoor onsens pools are very relaxing but you can't see Fuji from them.
The timetable for the return bus trip was a little confusing, as was the payment for the fare - you pay on exit(!)

The view from the open-air bath was outstanding. Mt. Fuji looked beautiful. Even though it was a large-scale hot spring, I was surprised at how many people were there. There were only a limited number of sinks in the changing room, so during busy times, you had to wait in line to dry your hair. Even though the restrictions on activities due to COVID-19 have been lifted, the crowding was a bit worrying.

First onsen experience in Japan so i cant compare with others. But the outdoor bath provides a good view of Mt.Fuji. Good experience for 700Y. Bring your own towel of get one from the reception. Prepare two 100Y coins for use at the shoe locker on the ground floor and the locker for your belongings outside the bath.

It was my second time here. It was awkward every time we stripping ourselves in front of so many people. But because no one care and no one staring, so we felt awkward if we don't do like the locals do. The onsen itself is a big space area, with 4 major pools. The outdoor pools gave you another unforgettable experience you won't missed!

This is the first time I was naked in public pools, but you do not have to worry about privacy. The Onsen makes us feel good because the rooms are divided between men and women. You can not use the shoes into the room but they provide lockers shoe with a deposit of ¥ 100 and they will refund your money when you are finished. If you do not bring towels, you have to borrow a towel at the front office and after that you need to store your belongings in a locker with a deposit of ¥ 100. For hygiene reasons, they do not allow people who have tattoos into the pool but at times there are tourists who have a small tattoo getting into the pool. You should wash your body before going into the pool and do not use a towel into the bathroom. they have 3 swimming pool with a wave and you can enjoy views of Mount Fuji while soaking in hot water. they say that this pool can cure many diseases, but for me, this experience is the best medicine Besides relieving fatigue.

We always go there when in yamanakako it is one of the best onsen in the area and one of the most reasonable price for entrance fee. You can park right infant of the facility and you can spend few hours if you consider all the extra activities you can enjoy, like massage video games for kids or a choice of japanese food either upstairs with the easy japanese style tatami room that can hold up to 300 people or downstairs in the little restaurant ,but not a great choice of dishes i suppose. The view from the onsen outside is stunning ! you fell like you can almost touch mount fuji. They have dry and steam sauna with big jaccuzy I really recommend you to go but be prepared during the weekend it gets really packed

Came here with countryside tour Forest bus . The adult entry is Y800 per entry , students Y600 and additional Y100 for towels or Y220 for two towels ( one to bring into the onsen). You put your shoes in s locker ( refundable Y100) then you enjoy your onsen . Also need another refundable Y100 for the locker in the onsen room.
The onsens are lovely . The indoor ones comprise of three pools including one with bubbles . The outdoor ones have two pools. Both offer a magnificent view of Mount Fuji . Lovely! The only set back is they do not provide combs!
The food there is payable by machine. We could not read Japanese and got by by matching the food to the characters . There are dishes like Katsudon, curry rice , noodles , milk and ice-cream . Quite delicious.
Allow two to three hours there with onsen and food.

You can enjoy Onsen and very nice view of Mt.Fuji. Year by year, the number of foreign tourists has increased! You can try it!
改装して、洗い場から富士山を真正面に眺めることができ、数も増えました。でも、露天風呂は変わらず、ややイモ洗いですが、気持ちのよい温泉です。山中湖に行ったらはずせない。

We decided to go here on a cloudy and rainy day when there was little else to do. The onsen has three or four indoor baths and two outdoor baths, with different temperatures, and two saunas (one dry and one steam). All in all a very nice onsen, and although the restaurant has a certain cantine-feel to it the food was good and reasonably priced (which the onsen entry ticket is as well by the way, 800 yen in april 2016. Just keep in mind you have to rent towels if you dont bring your own, and will cost ca 350 yen extra). If you are in the Fuji Five lakes area and you have not tried an onsen yet (and are not planning to go to an exceptional one later in your trip), you must use the oportunity and go here!

Can we bring our fone in the onsen pools just to take photo of mt fuji view? Thanks
Written 14 October 2017
The question is old, but just in case somebody is wondering as well. No phone allowed. Not just for this location. But if you go to any onsen places, you are not allowed to bring in your phone to take pictures. You cannot bring your phone into the pools area. You would have to put your phone inside the locker. If you want to take pictures of of the Mt. Fuji you can do it outside the building

For the people with tattoos, are there any options for us if we want to experience the onsen? Possibly, private areas?
Written 1 October 2016
Japanese people think tattoo is for mafia or that kind of people. But we also want more and more foreigners to enjoy staying in Japan.
This website gives you some tips to go to Onsen with tattoo. You need cover your tattoo.
Search "alae-japan" to find the sticker to cover tottoo.
Good Luck!
