Lake Rotoiti is def worth a visit if you are in the Nelson Area. There's a large selection of walks to do nearby, you can see eels from the pier or just look at the amazing 360 views. My advice would be to take a...More

There are lots of campsites at the lake and a few hotels nearby. You can rent kayaks, take the water taxi or hike some of the many trails around the lake. Later in the day you might even see a kiwi.

I highly recommend going here to go kayaking or paddle boarding! The lake is gorgeous and they have a lot of camping options on or nearby.

Crystal clear water. Lots of ducks. Eels, some reportedly 100 years old. Lush forests. The St Arnaud Range and Mount Robert in the background. Beautiful! Worth visiting.

Great place to just sit enjoy a picnic whilst enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Of course you can use the lake for boating but just do so slowly in order to enjoy the mountain surroundings.

I love visiting the jetty and watching the eels. Every time I come home I include Lake Rotoiti on my list of "places to visit". I've also recommended this stop to friends and family who have travelled to NZ.

This place is just stunning, lots of walks lots of water activities lots of eels. I would imagine this place gets very busy in the summer time. Easy to get to off highway 63.

A stunning sunny day at Lake Rotoiti. We did the walk through the forest. The birdsong was beautiful.

Like so many of NZ's smaller lakes, Rotoiti is fringed in forest and surrounded by pleasant walking tracks, nature walks & more adventurous climbs & multi-day tramps.
