Terra Nova National Park is a place where long fingers of the North Atlantic Ocean touch the island boreal forest of Eastern Newfoundland. Rocky headlands provide shelter from the awesome power of the open ocean. The landscape of the park varies from the rugged cliffs and sheltered inlets of the coastal region to the rolling forested hills, bogs and ponds of the inland. Cultural history abounds in the remnants of sawmills and past human cultures.

Newman's Sound campsite has over 350 pitches but was self-registration-only when I arrived in May. Information about where to pitch was poor. Pitch a tent in the wrong place and you'll pay for electricity that you can't use. Large parts of the park were closed...More

My two boy (ages 6 and 8) had a fantastic time hiking and exploring the visitor centre at Terra Nova National Park. After driving in the car for a few hours the whole family needed to stretch their legs. We went hiking on the Sandy...More

The park was closed for the season when we were there. I would have thought that you should be able to at least drive through but it seems that between the end of Sept. and Thanksgiving that a lot of things just close. We still...More

We went to the park to do some kikes and really enjoyed the experience. The trails are well kept and lots to keep you busy. Only issue is if staying on East side of park (and not camping in the park) you have to drive...More
