First time I had seen this on the cycle track, it takes your breathe away. A great bit of sculpture. After reading up on the reason it is there it is sad that it marks the demise of local industry. Well worth a visit.

Disappointing and expensive monument to the sad pit closures. Needs more than this to breathe life back into Consett.

Been past this literally thousands of time, its probably the main landmark in Consett now. Its also a good place for local youths to hang around, smoke cannabis and break glass bottles.

Two commanding and realistic pieces of sculpture close to the centre of Consett and yet offering striking views across the North Pennines. Plenty of fast food and other refreshment outlets nearby for those enjoying the C2C cycle route that passes these artworks.

Always walk up here and get a great view from the top. The path then leads onto the Derwent walk. Close to McDonald’s and KFC.

Seen from a distance at first sight one sculpture looks like a rather large telescope; but as we got closer we realised just how big these two sculptures are. Stunning.
