A must watch place if you are in Palakkad. Constructed by Hyder ali, this is preserved by Archeological department now. There is a hanuman temple and a museum inside. Excellent for a good morning walk or evening walk. There is an open air auditorium, a park and sub-jail within the fort.

Had 2 hours to spend in Palakkad, so vised the fort
Nice clean fort, in heart of town.
Building inside are govt building ad mostly dilapidated
But the fort itself is maintained well
But nothing else to see, except some views from turrets.

Located in the middle of Palakkad town this fort has gardens and a ram temple.
I did not find it very interesting except for gardens and as a getaway to escape from scorching sun of Palakkad. There a huge trees and benches where you can take rest

The drone images attracted me towards the fort. The construction by Tippu Sultan is on another level I could say. The strength and security we can feel even now also. The watch towers give a 360-degree view of the place. The gardens are amazing. The barrier trench is now a garden river with lots of turtles and fish. Great time I had with my friends over the place.

Recommended only to some one who are interested in History. It is just a fort with a garden to walk around for almost 30 minutes. Good as a last optional visit as there is nothing else to see

Most recently I visited the Palghat Fort three days back when I had to speak at the World Heritage Week function organised by the ASI. As I arrived a little early I had ample opportunity to wander in and around the fort, unlike on previous visits. In addition to the fort itself, a protected monument of the Archaeological Survey of Indiainformation centre museum, the stepped well, the old jail house, the auditorium and the Hanuman Temple inside the fort are all worth visiting. The peaceful atmosphere surrounding the fort, and the greenery around are soothing. A conversation with the members of the 1500 strong fort wlkers' club could be quite enlightening - and you are sure to come across some member or other taking the daily walk, or doing yoga, or other excercises. I watched for a good length of time the many fish in the fort moat, and a number of turtles, and one or two snakes, all adding to the pleasure of the visit. When in or around Palghat make it a point to visit rhe fort and learn a little bit about its various occupiers like Hyder and Tipu armies, the Zamorins soldiers, and of course the Briish.

One of the cleanest and well maintained historical monuments in all of India. The beautiful fort is definitely a sight to see. With the remains of olden days Canons and other relics, it is definitely a national treasure. With several trees making a beautiful canopy from the burning sun, it can also be a good picnic spot during winter time.
