Nelliampathy is an ideal vacation spot for nature lovers. The nearest town is Nenmara and would recommend a mininum of 1.5 days for sight seeing.

Stay : We stayed at a small resort run by Keral Forest Department (KSFDC) right inside the forest. Its a serene place much away from the hustle bustle of Nelliampathy with good facilities.

During the trek we spotted deers, hornbills, sambhar deer. It seems bisons, leopards and tigers were spotted by other travellers.

Some of the main attraction points are Seetharakundu, Pothundi, Kesavapara, Minnumpara and Mattupara ( off road jeep ride to these 2 spots is worth the visual treat in these 2 areas), Orange garden.

The initiative 'Plastic free Nelliyampaty' is what hit me . What hard work done by locals to collect plastics strewn by tourist all around.
The message is very loud and clear. Hats off to the youngsters we saw collecting plastics from roads and other places.

The drive to reach the top is by itself a great experience. Rich flaura and fauna all around the drive.

I love nature and this is one such place to go for nature lovers. You can use bike or car to reach the top. Experience mist and forest environment.

It is a hill station in Palakkad district. It is about 60km from Palakkad and 80km from Thrissur.
Important poi ts are
Seetharkundu
Hanging bridge
Orange farm
Pothundi dam

This is worth for a one day trip from palakkad and thrissur disteicts. Start early as the roads are narrow and triffic in holidays can defeat your time management.

I like the place very much. Every where greeneries. Seetharkundu is the main view point. Tea estates, coffee estates and waterfalls is the main attraction. The experience of off road driving is mind blowing.

A visual treat at the top is waiting for you. It is recommended to go in bike to get the real feel. As the tourism department has not taken any safety measures up there, it is suggested to take care while, walking or taking pics along the edges.

The trip to nelliampathy is an ardous one and around four hours from Coimbatore airport. But once you reach there,it is different world literally. No phone network. No newspapers or television! So for once people get to spend time with one another. Enjoy the sunrise. Go hiking, see wild animals at night Safari and have good food with the catch of thr fish from downstream!
