Fell in love with this fabulous little island on the edge of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Such a cool, classy, boho place for a little scrap of nothing with winding cobbles, pastel fronts and boutique, quirky shops. We landed on a bareboat charter and moored up in the tiny harbour on two separate occasions - we came back because we loved it so much. It has a great little grocery store, a pretty square with the most charming coffee and pastry shop and a handful of excellent restaurants. The strip of chilled bars overlooking the boats is effortlessly cool and the showers were world class. Anchored off a bay around the corner we snorkelled in what might as well have been a fish tank, broiling with parrot fish, brightly coloured crabs and schools of sleek silvery fishy friends. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Absolute gem.

Ventotene is a true gem of the Mediterranean.
This very small island of the Lazio region whose name derives from the word "Wind".
Enjoying a fabulous relaxing day at the seaside in Ventotene will allow you to reconnect with nature.
Splendid.

Very beautiful place, we spent a long we in April. Although the weather was not perfect we really enjoined the beauty of this small island. So many small houses, small street no traffic except a few local cars. Nice small beaches with fishes in water, which means incontaminated environment. You can do bird watching also and have nice walks along the island.
So many houses to rent even for one weekend. Many nice restaurants to enjoy local food. The island is so small that during the high season could be too crowded.
If you love the Mediterranean should visit it

This is a small, very beautiful, quiet island, quite picturesque. The sea around is gorgeous. There is basically one beach, with a lovely view, but quite small. Several restaurants and bars, but it is a place for a quiet holiday, mostly.

We have been here twice and we love it. The tourists are mostly Italian with a few other nationalities. The people are very nice, the island is beautiful and the food is excellent. Dog friendly. This is a place that is 'off the beaten path' and is a hidden gem. Once you are here, you will understand why Italians want to keep it secret.

A bit far but worth it. And ancient Roman port that is still used with nice Roman cisterns to visit. Amazing fish restaurants inside Roman caves. Not many tourists, many Italians, some great restaurants on top of the hill next to the main square. The sea is a nature reserve and the water crustal clear with many diving spots. The island opposite used to be a prison worth visiting.

We had a relaxing extended weekend on Ventotene. It is a small island — we easily walked the length of it. It was the perfect place for a relaxing get away!

This was our first time and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the harbor on our boat. There are excellent restaurants and many recreational activities to enjoy.

Grazie!
Written 3 August 2017
