About
The agricultural enterprise Giovanni Chiappini is situated in the heart of the DOC Bolgheri at the Via Bolgherese, the road where the most important wine estates of the Bolgheri region are located. The particular difference in the work and the growth of the Chiappini family is found in their special connection to the soil, interpreted as mother earth and cultivated in a symbiosis with the workers.

We scheduled our tour in advance as we were porting from a cruise ship. Our hired guide brought us to this small winery which at the end of the Wine Road. We met the owner and his wife and then a young woman gave us an excellent overview and tour of the winery, answering several questions from my winemaking son-in-law. Her English and understanding of English were excellent.

This winery uses Cabernet and other "French" grapes, so is a little different than many of the other Italian wineries which use Sangiovese and other varieties.

We sampled two reds and two whites and some of their EVOO olive oil and took some pictures. Each couple then purchased cases of their wine and olive oil and had them shipped home.

Dear guests, first of all many thanks for your visit! It was a pleasure to welcome you and explain the production of our wines and olive oil! This is the main activity of our family and we are very proud of it! We hope you will think about Chiappini winery and the nice time spent together, while drinking a glas of our wines at home! See you again in the next future! Greetings from Bolgheri and from Chiappini Family!

It starts with a scenic drive to the Chiappini Winery. The modern winery was built in 2014 and looks like it is brand new. The tasting room and views are breath-taking. A circular stairway can take you up to the crow's nest that provides views of the vineyard or take the steps downstairs to the state of the art wine making processes. The wine is delicious and they will ship it to you, so you don't have to lug it home, but don't forget to get a few bottles to enjoy while you are on vacation. I highly recommend the Chiappini Winery!

We drove in on a whim and they kindly let us taste their wines. Very glad they did. The Vermentino 2016 was well worth buying, this is a winery to keep an eye on as their wines are getting better and better

Stopped in for a wine tasting here on our way through bolgheri. The tasting costs 10 euros per person and I was driving so said only my wife would taste. Most of the wines were nothing special but there were a few that we liked and bought a box. We were then charged for 2 people for the tasting even though we only had for one. Most other places give you the tasting for free if you buy some wine. I would not go here again, there are some nicer wineries that are better value. The wine are quite expensive and not worth the price I think.

We liked the hospitality, the tour and the tasting. But compared to wine cellars in Piedmonte visiting Chiappini is extreme expensive.

In two different wine celars in Piedmonte we tasted several good wines and were not charged for tasting whilst buying wine. Also the glasses were filled with more than a drop to wet your lips.

At Chiappini we payed for six adults €120 to visit the celar and the tasting of four drops of different wines. The visit lasted somewhat more then an hour......

To be honest, for this reason we bought only little of their tasty wine, whilst we spended in Piedmonte over €300 at each wine yard.

Buying wine and feeling good goes together. The charged €120 for the visit and thet drops of wine influenced the "feeling good" to much to buy more than a few bottles. It is a pitty.....

Dear guests, thanks for having visited Chiappini Winery! We are wine and oil producers since a lot of years and we are very proud of it. All our family is involved in this activity and for me it is a real pleasure to explain our work. Sorry if the visit was too long, but one hour is the minimum time to explain some important things regarding the production of our different types of wines, grappa and oil! The price includes the visit and the tasting and it is not expensive! For people not interested in the explication of the production it is also possible a free wine tasting, without visit. Anyway we are satisfied you have appreciated our tasty wines! Greetings from Bolgheri!

Very interesting tour! The tour guide was very nice, had a lot of information about the wines, the soil and the process of the wine making. The tasting was good, rosé, white an two red wines, up to a high quality.
Wonderful azienda, beautiful landscape, very friendly proprietor and staff. Highly recommended!

We very much enjoyed our visit to Chiappini Vineyards. It's a very beautiful Bolgheri property and a fun tour of a smaller, family owned/operated organic winery with some interesting wines produced. Our tour guide, Ilaria, was very friendly, relaxed, knowledgeable, welcoming and warm. She gave a solid overview of the Bolgheri DOC, the family and the property. I very much recommend a vist.

This was a great tour of a mid-sized family-owned winery. Our group of 9 varied from very knowledgably about Italian wine to those that had never been to a winery. Our guide provided a detailed AND interesting overview of the Bolgheri region, their winery, and winemaking. She answered everyone's questions.

The views were gorgeous, even on this overcast day. The view from the tower was wonderful!

Then we sat in a lovely tasting room and tried their white wine, rosata, and 3 of there red wines. We had a crispy bread with their own olive oil as well.

Two of our group are not wine drinkers, so were able to participate in the tour and skip the tasting at a reduced cost. AND, they learned so much about winemaking... perhaps they will start drinking wine???

I absolutely loved this place, it had the best location and the best rooms and the best breakfast, and the friendliest staff. The wines themselves weren't really to our taste, but definitely worth the stay.

Our recent visit to Chiappini Winery for an organized tour and tasting was such an enjoyable experience! The family of wine makers were so welcoming and were delighted to share both their love and their knowledge of their delicious wines. We were further delighted when the wines we ordered were delivered the day after we returned home. Our time on the grounds will always be included in the highlights of this particular trip and we will definitely return when we are in the area.
