About
Step into the Wild West at Nelson Ghost Town, an abandoned gold mine located just 45 minutes from Las Vegas. It's been featured in tons of music videos, films and video games, though it's not just a spot for pop culture fans. Join a guided tour and check out the restored houses, cool historical artifacts and a collection of vintage cars. You can drive a few miles to the east to see Nelson’s Landing, where a short trail downhill leads to a lookout with views of the Colorado River. It's also a great pitstop on a day trip to Vegas or the Hoover Dam. – Tripadvisor

Very rude people. Looks like a junk yard. High priced store. Highly do not recommend the drive out from Las Vegas. There are much better things to do.

This place is so very cool. The couple that own & run it are super; friendly & giving; really nice folks. It costs $1 (yes, $1). We couldn't give them a mere dollar, so gave them a $10 and they were beside themselves. The old cars, old campers, & old buildings are really neat. It's incredibly quiet & peaceful. We spent several hours wandering around and it was the highlight of our Las Vegas trip; yep, better than the Vegas strip.

We stumbled upon this place on our first day in Vegas. It’s about 45 out from town, but well worth the visit. The owners are super nice and full of great information.

It’s practically free as the owners charge $1 per person and there is so much to see. You can also purchase snacks and beverages.

Once you’re done exploring, don’t be afraid to venture onward to the Colorado River overlook. It’s about 5 miles down and a hidden gem!!!

This was really a unique opportunity to take a trip back in time. The owners are wonderful and you are free to wander around at your heart's content. There are some things that you can pay for, however you are also allowed to wander at your leisure. The landscape is magnificent and something that should be treasured as you won't see it anywhere else in the world. The Colorado River is just a short drive away. The stop reminds me of my trips with my parents when I was growing up.

This was one of the most amazing things we did on our trip. Only a short car ride out of Vegas and a fantastic opportunity to see the beautiful scenery, Nelson’s Ghost town is well worth the visit. The owners are kind and friendly, and have done an amazing job in taking care of the area, there is so much to see and do. It was an unforgettable experience and one we will be talking about for a long time.

We had a great time looking at all of the old buildings, vehicles, and machinery on display. It’s easy to look at something and envision what life was like back in the mining days.

Then there are the whimsical vehicle creations. Whoever is responsible for the double decker schoolbus campers is a very imaginative artist. We enjoyed every bit of it.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to take the tour. We couldn’t predict when we would arrive so we couldn’t make reservations. It was ok though because we were allowed to roam the property for $1.00 each. Next time, we’ll be sure to keep our schedule more flexible.

One word of caution though; the place is not idiot proof. There are a few ways a fool can get hurt, the most significant of which are from Rattlesnakes and Cactus injuries. A little common sense and caution can go a long way here.

Had a really good time visiting this old mining town. The lady checking us in was very specific, gave some good information. This is a fee area and people live here, you have to be courteous and mind your business. I was using a camera and gladly paid the $1.00 fee, it is more if you're a pro.

Unfortunately, we were low on fuel having driven in from Utah and didn't go to the Colorado River, a mistake on our behalf. I think I'll go back next year and an spend a full day exploring the area, some of the Jeep trails.

This is basically a junk yard, not a ghost town. They couldn’t be less welcoming. Everywhere there are signs that say no trespassing, get out, turn back, private property, etc. Maybe they think they’re being funny? There’s a palpable negative vibe, bad energy. We paid the $1.00 per person fee to walk around and then some random guy told us we were in a private area, but it looked like everything else on the property. If you happen to be driving through, maybe stop? But it’s for sure not worth making a special trip.
