About
Benanti. The high profile of Etna. We welcome our guests to our nineteenth-century estate, at the foot of Monte Serra in Viagrande. Our mission is to offer our guests an opportunity to become ambassadors of Etna wines, creating memorable experiences that communicate our territory and its centuries-old traditions via our wines. To do this, we accompany our guests around the estate, up the slope of Mt. Serra — an ancient volcanic cone sewn with vines — to see and touch our centenary vines of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. From the vineyard, we visit our old and majestic Palmento to learn about local customs and the winemaking techniques of our ancestors. Your experience continues in the historical former cellar, which has been transformed into a painting collection room for our selection of oil-on-canvas portraits. The wine & culture experience culminates in one of three guided wine tasting & food pairing programs: *"Get to know Etna" *"Contrade Selection" *"Library Vintages"

The whole experience was fabulous.

The building is charming and the vines looked lovely outside.
We were led into a beautiful dining room with 15th century paintings on the walls. We had a really really good meal with accompanying wines. The chocolate was welcome too! We then went for a walk around the grounds and into the cellars. Great hospitality.

We went to Benanti Vineyards and Winery for a tour and tasting over lunch with a small tour from the cruise ship port in Giardini Naxos (Taormina) Sicily. It was a beautiful drive up into Mt Etna hills. The winery and public areas are actually at the same location as the beautiful family home, and it was fun to see young family members enjoying their swimming pool as we walked into a vineyard. As other reviewers post, the tasting room is open to the public and the wines are very good! Benanti has helped lead the elevation of Mt Etna wines in recent years. We enjoyed the perfect lunch of charcuterie and a course of light pasta as one of the Benanti co-owners described the wines, that was such an unexpected treat! A great place to visit!

We went by chance to try wine tasting wishing we could do it as we never booked and I met the owner of the most beautiful winery in viagrande called Benanti , at that time they were doing maintenance work that day so they wasn’t open to the public but still he welcomed us to come and try the wines and see the vineyards such a gentleman he was explaining some history about the vineyards and the property . I would 100% recommend for you to visit the winery you won’t be disappointed and enjoy the experience we will definitely be returning back again soon

We had an amazing wine tasting here, with a tour of the vineyards on the Etna volcano, and delicious bruschetta, cheese and olives paired with our wine. The winery itself is beautiful and the staff made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend

(March 2019) This stop was one of the highlights of our two week trip around the island of Sicily. Loved this winery tour where we learned the history of wine making in Sicily and how the business is being transformed since Guiseppi Benanti gave ownership to his two sons. Who grows vineyards on the slopes of one of the most active volcanoes in the world? Those that understand it’s potential for some of the finest wines in Italy and I am sure Benanti is a recognized name in the wine world. The tour and first wine tasting began inside where there are some original wine making equipment. We were served delicious bruschetta with this tasting. After a short walk through the vineyard we sat down for an elegant, 4 course luncheon held in a room surrounded by amazing art. Food was wonderful and wine exceptional. I remember that the Nobellese (sparkling), Nerello Cappuccio Red 2016 (my favorite) and Nerello Mascalese Red 2014 were all excellent. We will definitely return on our next trip to Sicily. I think you need to call ahead for tour.

Spent a pleasant afternoon at the winery. A hearty lunch in the delightful dining hall was followed by a tour of the beautiful grounds, learning about winemaking. The wine press in the barn is an historic delight. Wines were very good with the reds being a particular favourite.
