About
Grade: Moderate Mcleodganj to Triund 2800 mtrs, 9 kms gradual trek. The trek offer panoramic views Bhagsu village, Mcleodganj, Dharamsala valley and distant views of Shivalik hills and plains of Kangra valley. The trek is moderate nature. Triund is a large land of green grass and pasture like. One can see the mighty Dhauladhar ranges just above the eyes. This is the base camp and climatization point for trekkers climbing the Inderahara point in the Mt. Dhauladhar.

Wonderful trekking to the top of TRIUND peak which is approximately 10000 ft above sea level.
Trekking is steep steps an ardous route which takes to the top of mountain.
I completed the trek in 5 hours and back to the base of TRIUND hill, total trek of 10-12 Km.
From the base you may take a taxi to get down to Tushita meditation center or Mcleodganj bus stand which is another 6-8 Km. The taxi's are small maruti cars which will charge 500 rupees both ways.
Since, I had time so i walked all the way from TRIUND peak to Mcleodganj bus stand.

We started our walk from Dharamkot main square for Gallu Devi temple and we simply loved it. Took us 1hr to reach the top and after that we visited the Indra nag temple. View from there was mesmerizing. One cannot miss it. You can take a local taxi for rs500 till Gallu Devi temple as well. For triund, you can start from Dharamkot by walk or else reach Gallu Devi by taxi and then hike. Wonderful day

It's an easy trek that we did along with our 10 year old.
tree roots, fallen leaves and stone steps made gentle by walk make up the path.
Fortunately quite clean and not littered by humans .
Since path is so narrow and way steep with valley on one side , horses and vehicles are not found on the way.
The view is astounding not just of the valley spread below but also snow capped mountains ahead .
If you are lucky , like we were , you can find snow on the way itself ❄️
Even if you don't go all the way , worth whatever distance you can cover .

Overall a great experience. It's the perfect level of trekking for someone with little trekking experience. Uphill takes around 5-6 hours and downhill for 2.5 hours approx. We made one mistake of going from Dharamkot (parking our vehicle there) but returning to Gullu Devi point. Since it was dark so had a lot of trouble in locating our vehicle. The local people helped us in guiding to the correct route. I'd suggest go from the Gullu devi point in first place. You will meet some dogs on the way as well who may even follow you (correction: guide you) to the trek.

Catch trail from Dharmkot and head about 7k to Triund. Lots of chai shops on the way so no need to bring food/water. I saw a snow monkey on the trail, which was a highlight.

It was a wonderful experience. This trek was easy for me, even though I am a newbie to the trek. We took 3 hours to get to the top, and 2 hours to descend. It is worth it for the beautiful scenery and the stunning snow-clad mountains at its top.

Very clam destination, place to meditate, to hangout with friends & family.
There are different start points to reach Trihund, most popular is from Bhagsu temple, it can also be reached form Bangotu & Thathri as well.
Cafes are available on route. Hike is really appealing. Camp stay would be recommended.

I crossed this hill top twice, once while trekking up to Lahesh Cave. On both the times, I was at this top at around 3PM or so. The view of Dholadhar Range was awesome! It was sunny, but very windy so, it was kind of cold! Its an interesting top as one can see two sides, Snow Covered Dholadhar Range as well as Kangra Valley at the other side.

Heavenly place to go for!! Must go for Triund trek to soak yourself in what is called surreal!!
At a distance of 3 kilometers you will find a Tea shop where you can sit surrounded by mountains sipping best Ginger Lemon Honey Tea, Maggi & enjoy the calmness of the place...
Up there once you reach the Triund point, Yummiest of Dal chawal is available prepared by one & only single stall there. Trust me you will love it all if you like to trek & love being in Nature!!

We are planning to trek in the first week of March 2021 to triund and snowline. Is camping allowed in snowline or there any government regulations for camping at snowline? Also will there shops to rent out tents/sleeping bags in snowline?

If you are asking about the Covid situation, you should check closer the date of travel. s far as the trek is concerned, there should be no problem with your child. The altitude gain is not al that much.

no such shops for renting such gears; you may purchase the same from dharamsala or mcleodganj. Only you may rent bamboo sticks from the Gallu Devi check post shops.

Is Triund open now? I heard from couple of Trekking Clubs in Mcleodganj that they are not allowing solo hiking and trekking is closed now. Pls advise. Are these people trying to make money?

I am sorry I am answering late. No such organised rules to restrict solo trekking. For Triund you do not need any guide or trekking equipments except a stick and a poncho with good trekking shoe. For Indrahar Pass, you need proper skill, equipments, stamina, Guide and portar

With snow cleats on the shoes and probably a good walking stick, you should be able to trek to Triund (and back!).
