Admission to the museum is free with a ticket to Su Naraxi. The person at the front desk was helpful in describing the layout of the various buildings, but because of time I focused on Casa Zapata. In Ca Zapata there are a variety of artefacts from Su Naraxi as well as others more recent from the Spanish occupation. It is a small museum with tasteful displays but a little confusing because of the historical mix. In the basement there are other neolithic remains, named Nuraxi e Cresia, discovered during the building renovation.

Entry on a combined ticket with Su Nuraxi and Giovanni Lillu. An old (16th century) family palace that was built on a historic nuraghi site that was excavated. There are guided tours only, so check the hours. The site is unique combination of the glass footbridges over the remains of nuraghe and a rare example of Hispanic civil architecture in upper parts of the building. Quite interesting.

As the Barumini entrance includes access to this house, we went along to discover many more archeological areas and amazing history behind all the discoveries and what has been done to keep the sites intact.
Lovely addition to the Barumini area as to show you the other developments done through the ages.

Apart from the Su Nuraxi site, the Zapata palace is the only museum to visit in Barumini. Interesting for the local family history. well preserved.

We visited this palace following a tour of the Nuraxi site, as it is included in one ticket price (along with the museum). It can be reached by a short 10 minute walk from the Nuraxi site.
Upon arrival, we were provided with a poorly translated English pamphlet, which aimed to guide us around the palace. This was ambiguous to start off with, not knowing what the information corresponded to. The signs and artefact descriptions are all in Italian, which was a little disappointing for two tourists that wanted to know more!
This site gives an interesting perspective on a Nuraxi site as you can look at the remains from above. The museum also includes ceramic and iron work from this prehistoric period. Though, the display of the artifacts is sporadic and doesn't correspond to the information pamphlet.
If you visit the Nuraxi site and have spare time, then it is worth a ponder.

Didn't even know this place was here. We found it on the way back from the Su Nuraxi (well worth a visit as well).
Fantastic nuraghe discovered underneath the palace as well as a lot on the interesting history of the palace itself

The entrance to the Casa Zapata Museum is included in the ticket to Su Nuraxi di Barumini.
We found the museum something of a let down after Su Nuraxi, which is amazing.
We had about 35 minutes here with a tour group. There is a lack of English at the museum, so we were lucky to have an English speaking guide to talk to us.
Nevertheless we did not find it that interesting.

We went there after Su Nuraxi just to see the kind of objects people were capable of making 3200 years ago. It was such a great visit... Although in the middle of the summer, we were totally alone in the house and at the entrance we were proposed a guided visit from a very valuable person who told us everything about this particular house based of very special foundations... definitely worth visiting... we feel so sorry we are not even able to remember our guide’s name...

Visited as part of our nearly private tour of the nuraghic ruins of Barumini. Nice place. An old mansion complex. House was built above a nuraghe, which you can see through the glass floor. Not a lit else, but a collection of artifacts from the ruins worth viewing.
