It looks like only the beginning of collecting arts and artefacts used by the people around. It is not much worthwhile to visit, but a visitors visit may help the concerned authorities to add more things. Lets hope for the best.

Very poor, the museum itself is in a bad state, not much to see. Don't bother going there, very few items on display, not much on the rich history of this town and Inle Lake

I've been to couple of countries and it's museum. Since this town is very small and this is the only small museum so you can't expect much. The building itself is from 1913 and yet to complete so that's the main attraction. It was the palace for Shan state chiefs housed and worked at. Some old items from King's era was display such as their dressing mirror, the container for cosmetics, costumes and chairs etc. The downstairs was abandoned and could have been renovated and display well to attract more tourists. They don't have proper handout about the museum. Could have arrange more interesting place for people to see. Exterior is still looking good and attractive. It's a worth to go place if you happen to be in Nyaung Shwe, Inlay lake and go there before 4pm. They close on Monday and Tuesday and Public Holidays.

Not much of a museum compared to the one in Bagan, but some items of interest. The huge wicker Buddha and the turn of the century outfits were of particular interest.

We had some extra time and decided to take a look at the Cultural Museum. From the outside the place looks abandoned. The fence is well maintained however the garden is in shambles with weeds growing everywhere. As we approached the front door we realised the museum was open and there was actually someone sitting in the ticket area. Entry cost 2000 Kyats each.
There are two areas of the museum the upstairs and downstairs areas. Upstairs includes the artifices, photographs and replicas. The roof and floor of the top floor are old and birds can be heard making a home in the roof.
The downstairs is a dilapidated and empty area with no lights, old wooden planks around and very few signs.
Overall we spent 45minutes which was easily enough time and the most interesting part was the actual building.

Essentially an fancy old house of a Shan royal family with a fee associated items displayed within it. Very little written information and barely anything in English. The only bits of interest were a Buddha made of bamboo and displays of different local traditional dress amongst the Pa'O, Intha etc.

This is one and only museum(it used to be a Palace of the Sawbwar of Shan) through out the country. Huge teak building built in the middle of the large garden under big shadow trees.
Visitors can feel the such a kind of deserted feeling however, there are still many interesting things are display.

The museum is the old palace of the Sawbwa of Nyaung Shwe. During the colonial times, Shan State is divided into several principalities ruled by a Sawbwa. The palace is generically called Haw (maybe a derivative from the English word house?), where the Sawbwa holds court.
The building is huge compared to other locally constructed houses, made up of bricks and other permanent materials. But it is poorly maintained, despite being manage by a government agency, or maybe because of the agency’s limited resources.
The 2,000 kyats entrance fee is quite cheap. Inside, the building pictures and some artifacts are found. What impressed me is the wide space that used to be the court of the Sawbwa, and the old teak wood used as posts and pillar of the house. On the western side an old cannon with French inscription is also on display.
Despite the poor condition, the museum is a must to understand Shan culture and history.

I visited there with my friends on August 6 morning when raining. Entrance fees for local was cheap only 200 MMK but 2000 MMK for foreigners. Actually these museum was former 1st President of Burma Sao Shwe Thike's resident or Nyaungshwe Saohpa's Haw. It was interesting place for me but I saw many rain drops from roof was big problem. I saw 2 ladies staff only at ground floor office. Walk way, ladder and floor were full of dust and wet. Their visitor review and opinion also provided only A4 papers with bad writing by some local guys seem like sketch papers as well. Also I saw used sprite can and burning tissue papers at garden foot path. Wide garden look like scary compound due to lack of gardening and repairing. So sad for that building's damage and fed up for Museum department's poor management.
