Unfortunately our French is basic so we took photos of the sign that explained the history of this gorgeous little church and the land on which it stands..
The church itself is small and unique and not that old. We liked the ship, and fishing nets draped from the ceiling. The church is of Moorish design.

You would not be remiss if you thought that this chapel was out of place. There is a very interesting story behind it. Take the time to find out.

Hi everyone,
Simply the best monument in Arcachon bay!
A beautiful blend of religious and cultural architecture built nearly 200 years ago.
It shows why France is one of the best open minded’s country and why it is the most visited in the world.
After this beautiful visit, continue your journey by heading to the Phare of lège cap Ferret.

It's one of the most beautiful historic/architectural sites around. This chapel opens for guided tours and special occasions (concerts). If you're lucky you'll catch the two internationally famous actors that live next door!

Who can expect you see a muslin inspired architecture Chapel ( and not a mosque) in this area.
Nobody but it is there. It is all what remains from a bigger domain. But the Chapel is very nice. Enter the chapel and enjoy the place. In summer time it is fresh and peaceful. The right place room meditate.
Outside the landscape is gorgeous and typical of the region.

Do not forget to visit the small village of l'herbe just at walking distance. It is also a must see in the region.

I love to explore the old churches. The fantastic architecture just doesn't exist in modern structures. This one is simple and tidy with not a lot of embellishment. It has beautiful creamy stone and a short bit of history available to read. It's tucked away on the basin side of the cape at the end of a road. You can sit on the benches outside and watch the oyster farmers and the water, or walk a short way further to rent a boat, or visit some vendors.
