There are guided tours around the old ,now disused, station which unfortunately we were unable to avail ourselves but the sheer scale of the old station is impressive. Hard to believe it was at the cutting edge of international travel not much more than 100...More

I found Canfranc Estacion fascinating. It is amazing to think they built something like this high up in the Pyrenees. You can only enter with a guide for 3 Euros who gives the tour in Spanish. But for people that do not speak Spanish a...More

This place is quite extraordinary. It should be in St Petersburg and not a tiny village. It is the remains of a quite magnificent structure with Pyrenean snow behind. The best bit is the view from outside, but do take the guided tour, if just...More

This is well worth exploring. In recent times, trains have visited since 2014, but you can still wander the old tracks, abandoned engines and engine sheds, to get a flavour of the massive and monumental Nazi architecture that epitomised the Third Reich and its friends....More

The size and location is unbelievable but the building is worth seeing and clearly has a future as it is now undergoing restoration. It will be fantastic to visit again in a few years when complete especially if the line reopens as promised.

This is one of the most underrated places in this area of Spain. This train station was one of the most important in the south of Europe in the beginning of the 20th century. It is a beautiful building and the surroundings are absolutely incredible!

Awesome, closed for visits but will revisit next year, you can feel history here....all very well preserved, enormous station. Strange to think Adolf Hitler took it over and had meetings with Franco here!!!
