The disused mine is on the outskirts of Rodalquilar village. The buildings are old and derelict but you walk past them with ease. The road behind the mines is worth a walk. You can easily spend a morning here looking around. Rodalquilar Village is nice...More

We ended up on what can at best be described as a dirt road travelling for almost an hour over the mountains and finally arriving at the gold mine. Unless you have an SUV I would recommend approaching from Rodalquilar village. The old mine workings...More

The Disused Gold Mine at Rodalquilar is a bit of a strange place. It was a thriving workplace until 1966 when it was mainly shut down, but it was worked more recently with new methods until 1990 ish, when it closed for good. Gold had...More

Fascinating old gold ore processing facility, well worth a trip out. Plenty to see and plenty of information boards. Visitor centre in some of the old buildings. Mirador cliff top viewpoint nearby.

We rode out by horseback. While facilities are sparse, it's worth the visit to see the area and the buildings. The architecture is also worth reviewing.

Well, the mention of gold usually causes interest for some reason and whilst you won't see any gold, there are plenty of interesting and colourful mineral and rock formations exposed at the site. Essentially derelict, there are enough of the buildings and settling pools which...More

We heard about the Rodalquilar Gold Mine by reading a small note in a guidebook, otherwise when driving in the In the Cabo de Gata in southern Spain, we would not have known it was there. A very interesting site that had some mining success...More

Fantastic site to wander round and a good museum dedicated to it close by. But may need to keep young children close to hand as there are plenty of things to fall off or down.
