My wife and I spent several enjoyable hours visiting the Museo for an informative tour and enjoyable light luncheon with Francesca, the proprietor, who is fluent in English as well as her native Italian. A certified sommelier of olive oil, she was welcoming and passionate describing the history, production and tasting of the oil. The museo itself has the antique equipment used in the oil making process, which Francesca described in charming detail. We learned how to properly taste the oils, then enjoyed a delicious light luncheon of ingredients produced by her family. We also tasted a variety of wines from Francesca’s winery, CantinArte, which were wonderful. I would highly recommend a visit and tasting to anyone who seeks a different and genuine insight into olive oil.

Francesca Di Nisio is an Abruzzo treasure in herself. She has deep roots in the countryside and is continuing in the line fine oil producers, saffron growers and wine makers. Cantinarte's restored olive mill in lovely Bucchianico is worth a stop and a taste! The huge granite millstones and enormous wooden press are at least 300 years old and give a visceral understanding of the labor involved in producing the liquid gold which is this region's olive oil. Francesca is well versed in the history and lore of olive oil production and also the actual current day production. Be sure to book an oil and wine tasting. Delicious oil and one of the finest Montepulciano wines I have ever tasted.

Highly recommend this experience. Beautifully restored space that truly captures and conveys the rich history and tradition behind olive oil making. Francesca was a fantastic, kind and passionate host that did a wonderful of introducing us to the art and history of olive oil making and sharing with us the experience of tasting olive oil. She made my family feel very welcome and did an excellent job of keeping our children (ages 9 thru 15) engaged and involved. The traditional abruzzese foods that accompanied the tasting were also delicious and a wonderful touch this truly authentic experience. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Abruzzo. A truly special afternoon... would highly recommend to anyone. A must visit stop in Abruzzo!

Francesca was a proud and articulate guide of her family’s antique(non operating) olive mill. It was a very informative tour of the 200 year old+\- mulino d’olive. I had no idea this valuable commodity of the ages took so much work to produce.
The tasting was especially informative and the town of Bucchianico not only has a great view of the valley below but it is beyond quaint with very good restaurants just off the main piazza.
Thank you Francesca for a wonderful and educational experience.

Nestled in the hilltop town of Bucchianico, near the town of Chieti, Italy, is the Museo dell'Olio di Cantinarte. The owner, Francesca and her family, have opened their factory for visitors to see the ancient olive press and understand the importance of olive oil to the Abruzzo Region. After a very lively and comprehensive tour, we were treated to an Olive oil tasting and Francesca shared the art of how to taste the oil. She shared many tips on how to identify pure olive oil. In addition, Francesca's family has their own vineyard so we were offered a glass of their vino rosso that was excellent along with some antipasti treats. This one the best tastings of olive oil I have ever experienced. I recommend, you take advantage of meeting Francesca and visiting her factory. It will be a highlight of your trip.

This place exudes history and love for olive oil. It is so well preserved and tells the glorious history of a proud tradition of olive oil making that had been in owner Francesca's family for generations. I took my 10 year old daughter and we learned so much on the tour... Just fantastic! Find this place and go there. You will not regret it!

Francesca Di Nisio's restoration of an oil mill lies in the lovely town (with amazing wooden doors) of Bucchianico near Chieti. She loves her work and is devoted to sharing her craft of oil and wine production with others. I learned a great deal by visiting her Museo. It is well worth a visit. Her products are also among the best in Italy. She is flexible and enthusiastic about sharing what she knows about wine, saffron and olive oil production. She is one of Abruzzo's new generation of entrepreneurs who have built upon family traditions.

We loved our afternoon spent with Francesca touring her museum who was so charming and hospitable. Fascinating to learn about the history of olive oil production followed by a delicious tasting of not only her olive oil but the wines her family produces too. The food was amazing and all farm to table. Francesca made sure there was plenty to eat while being sensitive to our group’s dietary requirements. We left well fed, happy and with a much better appreciation for olive oil. This tiny village is a little off the beaten track but so worth the effort to find. Highly recommend for anyone interested in an authentic experience in Abruzzo. Thank you Francesca!

This is such a fantastic place. The museum is one the most unique things I have seen in my travels in Italy. Francesca is lovely person and very knowledgeable and passionate about olive oil and the traditions of its production. Her family produces olive oil and wine as well as recently adding saffron to there family business. The time spent learning about oil and wine and saffron production, while sharing a fantastic meal of home cooked foods typical of the Abruzzese cuisine was one of the highlights of our time in Abruzzo. I highly recommend this. It is truly a unique experience.
