The lovely front with its double arches so well preserved in Renaissance style and inner courtyard patio with traditional well and some fine "mudejar" arches and supports. Now a justice building originally back in late 1500s served as the Inquisition house in the latter years prior to abolition of this practice in 1834. Different justice, different times. Was shown around this really nice town by Manuel who knows all. Outside there is a plaque with the following translation: “Llerena, such a noble place, the head of the province of Leon in Extremadura, on the roots of the mountain range of Sierra Morena, such a happy place of fertile soil, healthy sky, splendid houses, pleasant roads, beautiful women, strange witty gentlemen and lawyers; you can hardly find a fatuous one” by Luis Zapata de Chaves in 16th C.
