We parked here after driving around the treacherous mountian to Hvar town. We walked the grounds then down into the city. It has a nice view of the city and the city itself is large but walkable and has lots of good restaurants and shopping.

It's a wonderful experience to experience some of the legacies dating from a few centuries ago, since Old Town (Stari Grad) is one of the oldest cities in Europe.

petar hektorović's house which later became a 'castle' has a nice garden and a beautiful pond inside. you pay to maintain it, not because it's an amazing place -- 500 years++ of history. and croatia's first toilet!
