I thought it would be a more entertaining walk (no tour - self walk). Very little to see as far as exhibits. Play area for kids and teens, row boats and more on lower levels with small elevators or steep steps to get you there. Perhaps I was spoiled by the Wieliczka Salt Mine near Krakow Poland.

I was staying in Cluj and decided to visit nearby Turda to go to the salt mine. We got a bus from the bus station in Cluj, there are a couple of companies that go there, our bus there took 50 minutes, but bus back (Fany) took under 30 minutes. However, the bus doesn't drop you off exactly at the... More

The secret is out. Just a few kilometres from the airport is a vast ancient salt mine - beautifully presented for ease of access to visitors in very modern designed surroundings. Vast would be an understatement - and there is even a boating lake in the depths of the salt chamber excavations, together with miniature golf, bowling, table tennis and... More

It's amazing to go down with the elevator or via stairs. It's like travel to the center of the Earth. The boat ride in the salt lake in the bottom of the mine is a must.

the salt mine is worth visiting (as well as the nearby salt lakes, open for swimming in summer) beware that long tourist cues might form at the entrance / exit / elevators, so be prepared with patience (and water / snacks)

I have never visited a salt mine before. I have visited caves, but this is something different. It was good to be there off season. Apperently in holiday times it can be very crowded. Now we almost had the mine for ourselves. A guide in English was also available and she tolds us lots of interesting things which you would... More

The salt mine itself is quite spectacular. The main internal cavern could quite easily look at home in a James Bond movie such is the height and formation of the caves. This rating does apply to the caves itself though which in reality is what people come to see. You can get an elevator down or take the stairs and... More

This is one of the most beautiful salt mines in Transylvania. Lots of thins to do and see. The entry price has gone up again this year, so for the average Romanian family visiting could be quite expensive.

Visited mid week and it was very quiet which was a plus as there was no queuing and you could see more. It was definitely an interesting place to visit but I cant really understand the need for snooker and table tennis tables!! There was nowhere underground were you could purchase any refreshments - even water! Back up top the... More

I had not heard about this mine before my visit so it was a very pleasant surprise. The mines are dark and a bit difficult to decend into but once at the base, it is wide open and very well lighted. There are rides for children, play areas and for those who want to go beyond, there is a lagoon... More
