Excellent reefs make excellent diving. Lots of schooling fisch many turtles and plenty of critters. Be prepared for a little current since they do have tides.

Sadly, Bunaken is not as it used to be. It is very dirty and smelly. I found broken glasses and a needle once on the beach which is very dangerous for kids to run around.

The corals and variety of fish is just amazing. Done work to do to keep the waters clean, saw too much rubbish in the water.

Even though the visibility was not that good lsat December, I still saw the infamous wall in its full glory. There were sea turtles, a giant moray eel, a lone barracuda and plenty of batfishes around me most of the time plus a lot more!

See my review for Bunaken Oasis Dive & Spa resort, where I stayed when visiting the Marine Park. As far as I know, it's the only resort which can be considered high end on the island of Bunaken. Had a wonderful 15 days there.

We visited the area as a group of 20 plus. Fantastic scenery all around. Great for wall diving and discovering those little critters. Although not the greatest sea life I have seen, still a fantastic place to dive, but beware of the unpredictable currents, from...More

Endless turtles, loads of red tooth trigger fish, healthiest coral I've seen, so amazing and beautiful! Saw a big fishing boat which was clearly not ment to be there! My dive guide took a photo and said they will be reporting this!

For snorkeling it was okay. Warm sea is the best. Not amazing though. Protip: don't trust offers that say they would bring you anywhere to snorkel until you're satisfied. I did that and a bunch of local guides hid additional charges from the normal price....More

Hi :) I love snorkling but I am so afraid of sharks I'm wondering... are there big/dangerous sharks? Any previous attacks? I know it sounds silly but I am afraid I won't enjoy it much if I am afraid all the time to become some kind of a snack :)

Hello, I am deciding whether to stay at the accommodation on the East side, West side of island or the North. Snorkeling is the most important for me, so I would like to have an easy access to the beach snorkeling sites. Thank you!

Hi, did anyone been to Pulau Bangka in Northern Sulawesi? Is this island more as in Bunaken island? I want to go there this October but not sure which is the best. I love snorkeling, wishing to be able to see more colourful fishes. Please kindly advise me. Thank you. Regards, Felicia

Bangka is a lovely island and October is a good time to visit. The only month that is not good for diving and Snorkeling is August, because of large waves and a choppy sea.
