Since there were no options to select 10 years back due to the trip advisor policies I mentioned that it was 2022.But actually it was 2010. It was one of THE breath taking experience. Trekking was not allowed at Kumara Parvatha those days. We have to get permission from the forest office beforehand. Me and my sister were under 14 that time, we went trekking with some wonderful people without our parents. It was a hell of experience. We packed our lunch, water bottle and some glucose(must) then, we started our trekking early at 5 am in the morning accompanied by leaches, insects and nature's chit chats. You are not supposed to touch the trees or plants in your way because a snake or a Scorpio or a insect might be enjoying its view there. There was this one wonderful hidden falls which my big old friend and I discovered along the way, where you can stand on the top of the waterfalls and see down side ..OH my God Gracious, that was my reaction. Then there was a slippery rock that we had to cross. My big old friend grabbed my hand and he walked me through( he has superpowers) that slippery rock while others had taking some other long route to avoid trekking through that slippery rock. After a long time in the noon we reached the top. ufffffff that day i realized that there are some faaaar mooreee greaaater pleasure exists than watching cartoons. It was said that the top of Kumara Parvatha is where the God Murugan left his six souls. so that every stone at the place got transformed to have 6 sides due to the impact of the energy released. It is true and i got to witness it. Then we started to trek the downside. We met a couple of Natgeo photographers and we had the chance to meet some rare kinds of snakes. We reached the foothills at 6 pm. We had dinner and left the place with a heart full of memories. The thing is that I don't have any photos of the trip but it does not matter because it will always be in my heart. PS: Actually there are two or may be more routes to reach the top of Kumara Parvatha, the other route which we did not use was the one that has Swami Subramanya temple on its way.

    Worth the effort
Expect to rain as we trekked in October but the heat from the sun had no mercy, we took 2 days to complete the trek from kukke side and the routine was pretty much the same, it’s best to carry electrolytes and protein and sunscreen, we started the trek by 8:30 AM and reached battera Manae by 1:30 PM, and the next day started by 6:30 AM submitted at 11:30 AM and it was a worth trek. Try to carry a bed sheet as the tent will not have any and the mat will be covered with mud. And yes there will be strict checking and all the plastic will be taken count.

Kumara parvatha (KP) trek is of 13-14 kms long from Kukke and has a view point of the western side of the Ghat section. To complete the trek in 1 day one has to start as early as possible preferably before 6AM. There is one halt before the forest check post which is famous and is known as batara mane. One can avail tent here for stay 450 per tent and meals are available. Its costs around 150rupees, as of January 2021 per (unlimited) meal per person. Pre booking is available. This place is around 4.5kms from the start and can be done within 2hours (depends upon each individual's capacity and ability to hike) the rocky mountain is bit difficult to start with but then the terrain changes to forest and plain land in certain areas. There is only one stream in the entire region which is okay to drink.

Take dry fruits, fresh fruits and water bottle. Along with necessary accessories like shoes, hat and pain relief balm. Atleast one Govt ID proof is mandatory to carry to register in the check post. Only cash is accepted in the entire trek. 500 depsosit and 350 per person in the check post, deposit is returned if you return before the deadline. And in the batara mane also only cash is accepted, keep sufficient cash in hand. The time taken to climb is more and the time taken to rescind is Nearly 1/3. One can start the journey on the evening and stay near batara mane and enjoy the night and start the remaing trek in the morning.

We, myself, my wife, two sons (>20 years) did this trek on 14th Jan 2021. We started at 5 in the morning and returned back to Kukke (base) by 8.45 pm. It was exhaustive, challenging our limits and believe me, while returning I repented on my decision of coming here for trek because i was so tired and all my body parts were singing different songs. But the satisfaction you will get on this trek in marvelous. This is beautiful and astonishing and marvelous trek. Words will fall short in describing its beauty. One should do it once to feel proud of oneself.

Few tips:
1.Carry two bottles per head as water sources are not very frequent in the trail
2.prior trekking experience is advisable
3.Carry enough food. Only place you will get a good food is at Bhatramane, which is after 5 kms of hard trek from Kukke (Base) and apart from this place, you will not food anywhere on the entire trail
4. You have the option of staying in Bhatra mane, and most of the trekkers do that.

We started our journey from Mumbai on 25th Jan, we went to Manglore, from there we reached to kukke Subramanya temple by bus araund 11am. We started our trecking araund 11:30 am. It was a Sunday so there were so many people who were climbing dawn while we were climbing up. This was my first experience of trecking and staying in tent, that's why I was so excited.we went through dense forest it was amazing. Sounds of birds was attractive. We visit spring over there that was fabulous. We reached at Bhatt's house till 3 pm. We enjoyed meal there, fixed our tent and took rest for some time. At eve araund 5 pm we went sunset point we spent quality time there, took photographs, enjoyed nature's beuty, sat quietly. After that we had our dinner at Bhatt's house, hot sambar rice with pickel was really tasty. After dinner we enjoyed a fantastic view of sky......and slept nicely. On second day morning after breakfast araound 9:30 am we started climbing dawn and reached to kukke Subramanya temple araund 12 noon. Really it was very nice experience. thanks to my best friend for adding such a wonderful experience in my life.

The trek is pretty tough if it's a sunny day. The total trek is of about 14kms out of which 8kms are covered in forest but the remaining 6kms are completely open, not a single place for shade. The view is pretty good but nothing extraordinary. Surprisingly, it was pretty hot even on a January night.
I would recommend reaching the forest check post sometime in the afternoon and camp there, then start for the peak next day early morning.

Went through BMC adventures, it was really hassle-free experience. The trek leads were really helpful. Alveera was very engaging and kept us entertaining throughout the journey. Mohith and Darshan were really helpful too, they ensured everyone had their dinner and only then took theirs. :)
