Where can i start... i had huge expectations from Murudeshwar. Especially after going through pristine beaches in Bekal and Maravanthe in the past.

I was rudely shocked and disillusioned by Murudeshwar. Here are a few things which i strongly urge the Karnataka Administration to take note of:

1. Stricty prohibit Tempo travellers, buses, cars, jeeps, bikes from entering the beach - i havent seen many beaches in the world where there is an abundance of vehicular population

2. Have a plastic ban - see my images

3. Have patrolling frequently to ensure that violators are heavily fined and the beach is cleaned up

4. Engage Safai Karmacharis to participate in Swachh Bharat abhiyaan and help clean this mess.

It is painful to see that such a beautiful beach of Karnataka is so badly maintained (in fact not maintained at all)

I found Bottles, Plastic caps, Plastic bottles, chappals, shoes, condoms, discarded clothing, windcheaters, plastic bags, dog and human poo, whisky in satchet (tetrapak) and many more garbage. I am sure a beach clean up drive will yield over 100 Kgs of garbage from this 1/2 kilometre stretch near the Shiva statue itself.

The temple complex is good. But the beach is very dirty. People traveling overnight to visit the temple. Using temporary bathrooms/toilets near the beach and leaving the area absolutely dirty. There are many beaches along the Northern Karnataka coast, no point in wasting time in Murudeshwar beach.

The Murdeshwar beach is right next to the temple and quite accessible for all the visitors & pilgrims. It has a lot of shops and eateries.

But it's a horribly dirty beach strewn with human excreta when you walk along the length of the beach.. All of this goes into the water in which so many people bathe.. Its disgusting.

Don't understand why there are no toilets for locals/tourists to use, they use the beach to relieve themselves. Wouldn't recommend dipping into the water here. Head to Eco-beach for bathing in the sea.

No good place to stay!! Make sure you reach early in the evening to book your accommodations. Almost all the adventurous water sports(Scuba diving) start early in the morning, around 7:00 am. Otherwise, the temple is an okayish place to visit.

This is a nice, wide and reasonably long beach.
If you want to relax and enjoy the beach and surroundings choose a property away from the temple.
The ocean edge beach resort is a located right on the beach. Dont be fooled by the tag "resort".
It is a single building with some decent, basic rooms with a couple and family helping out with the food etc.
Breakfast and dinner very basic. Location is great.
Eat out if you have transport.
Great place to relax and explore the surrounding villages.

Murudeshwar beach is located in Bhatkal Taluk. Murudeshwar beach is located on the Arabian Sea shore of Konkan coast and it is one of the best beach out of 79 beaches in the Karnataka State.
Interesting Facts about this Beach:
1. Clean white sandy beach is extended @ 3 km and offers a range of water activities like Speed Boating, Water scooters, Parasailing, Banana boat ride and snorkeling.
2. This beach is covered with palm grooves along the shores, surrounding by hills and lot of greenery around the beach, which makes this place as an ideal picnic spot.
3. This beach is occupied with street food vendors and small shops. Specially evening is best time to spend good time along with street food. Street vendors also sell pretty mirrors and lamps made of Shells and conches.
4.Best part of this beach is its adjacent to Murudeshwar temple and we can see overall beach bird view from Murudeshwar Gopuram tower. The beach is renowned for its World second largest Lord Shiva Statue.
5. Right from bird watching to Sun set there is everything at this beach to spend quality time.

Nice beach near to the temple. The water is shallow and hence you can venture a little deep into the sea.

A beach nearby Murudeshwar Lord Shiva Temple. Could have been maintained well inspite the large number of tourists coming to the beach. Lots of litter coupled with the muddy shore makes it difficult to enjoy. Water scooter and boating are the attractions here.
