    Worth visiting!
A lot quieter than Göreme Open Air Museum, but just as interesting. Rather than being herded in and out of the caves, you actually have time to really explore and appreciate what you are seeing. You’re also allowed to take pictures! I would recommend that you wear sturdy footwear with a good grip, as most of the pathways aren’t level. But it’s definitely worth the (sometimes unsteady) climb there and back.

    Well worth a visit
This was impressive in its size and state. Well looked after and when we were there not full of huge groups visiting. This makes the whole experience more tranquil. Make sure you climb also to the church in the open space area.

enjoyable.. we explore the space. Beautiful caves and tunnels We came here as part of a "green" tour. You should be fit for climbing up stairs and go through dark tunnels. Would have also been nice it have a good guide here that can explain the history. In front of cathedral or castle there is Selime's tomb and behind it there is a river. Amazing view from top..

One of our favourite spots in the region, and should get more attention than it does.

The large churches were very impressive, as was the whole complex.

Really enjoyed the visit to Monastery, such a unique thing to see and do.

I did it as part of the green tour, so we visited in the afternoon with no many people there so had a good opportunity to explore all the different caves.

Not to difficult to walk up to monastery you do have to walk up a steep path/stairs.

Also good views overlooking area due to the elevated position of Monastery.

Selime Monastery, featuring rock-cut ones amongst the caves, is a beautiful place. Great place for views and clicks.

This site is about 90 mins drive from Goreme but so worthwhile visiting. We did a full day tour with 'Gorgeous Tours' which was superb and included an underground city and a hike along Ilhara valley also, very reasonable.
There is a steep but short climb to this large rock monastery....also a church and chapel etc...

A very interesting old monastery carved in volcanic ash. Worth the climb and great views from inside and outside the various rooms.

Our teenage boys had great fun in this complex.
