    Great Site of Archeological Palace
A 58 mins drove down from Greta Palace (north) to Minion of Phaitos (south) was a scene and worthy effort for us to finally come to this amazing archeological sites. We spent an hour to understand and read most of the information and sign board which were so educational. Thank you.

    More authentic than Knossos !
Having been to Knossos, if you're short of time I wouldn't bother and come here instead. Much more authentic, much less crowded, much better signed and interpreted. some areas roped off had clearly previously been available to see which was a bit disappointing . overall the site is interpretable to the amateur archaeologist with the good interpretation boards and there is a minimum of concrete , looking usually to hold antiquities up rather than lots of reconstruction, which seems minimal. No paining of concrete to look like wood ! No lashings of red paint or facsimile frescoes. a trip to Heraklion museum first helps. Good cafe on site

    Excellent Minoan Ruins
We were staying nearby and went one morning for a visit. Not to be missed if you are in the area. €8 entry fee is well worth it. Self guided tour with boards explaining all to know. Take water as very hot in July. After the shop and cafe are very reasonably priced. 2 bottle of water and 2 frappe's on €4.

    Fascinating site with spectacular views
We missed out on Knossos as the day we planned to go was so hot we knew we wouldn’t enjoy the experience. We decided to visit here during our tour as we were staying nearby and were amazed by the experience. Although it was still hot we arrived early to find very few people around. The site was so interesting and the views were spectacular- it felt very atmospheric. I definitely think we made the right decision to visit this site! I would recommend the cafe - very friendly lady who made excellent cafe freddo for us both!!!

This place doesn’t look fancy. But we have to aware than Minoan civilization is older than Greek. From this perspective it is very interesting. Really I don’t know how Greek archaeologists can reconstruct walls which have been fallen and their function.

This was really interesting place, much more better saved than Knossos! You can reach it with your car, also there are excursions from Chania,Iraklion etc. I do recommend to have own car, there is also plenty to see on the countryside!!

Faistos is way better than Knossos. It is way more beautiful and useful to visit this palace if you want to discover the Minoan civilisation! And the views are wonderful.

Well what a breath of fresh air and we're not just talking about the views across the beautiful countryside. After visiting the crowded Knossos it was an absolute pleasure to stroll around unhindered by tour guides with large groups of people cluttering up all the really interesting exhibits. This is a great place for a bit of history in a nice location where you can see everything at your own pace. The signage is informative which made a big difference, there is a nice café where you can sit in a shady patio for a snack. We had an pleasant journey through the countryside to get there, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience

This is the second most important Minoan palace after Knossos and we visited when on a road trip in Crete recently.
The setting is lovely, high up with views of farmland. The site itself is well signed with a logical route to follow although we used additional guidebooks to help us work out what everything was. There is also ongoing work still with further excavation taking place on the site.
The most important treasures from Phaestos are now on display in the museum in Heraklion.
There is also a pleasant cafe on site for drinks and food and the attached terrace had great views.
