The beach is big and not too crowded; after a 25 mins Metro ride from central Bilbao it’s a 20 mins walk from the metro station (the route goes uphill a bit). If you’re into surf you can rent everything onsite and there are a few bars around with food available all day.
It’s a nudist beach, people mingle freely which is nice. It’s not your typical Mediterranean sort of beach, water and sand are not what you see in postcards but all considered you have all you need to spend a nice day in the sun.

Super beach for hours of wave jumping. We spent 3 hours straight jumping waves without a wet suit. For us, the Sea was warmer than sea around Portugal for example. Life guards finish at 8pm. Waves were massive and plenty of surfers also use the beach. The metro is a 25 minute walk away. Note: there were metro strikes which delayed us 1.5 hours. The locals told us anytime after 6.30pm they usually strike. Uber to the beach at 6pm from Las Arenas cost 12 euro.

It‘s an interesting panorama with the rocks in the back and the sea in the front. There is a surf school and a lot of space to find a spot to relax.

Beautiful beach, with no buildings around it and wonderful green slopes and cliffs embracing it. The access can be difficult for people with mobility issues as there are stairs involved.
The beach is shared by nudists, surfers and paragliders.
Right now the bar is closed due to Covid I guess, but there are showers and even drinking water.
Parking is not free.

Easily reached by the Metro from the centre of Bilbao. Get off at Larrabasterra and walk 15 minutes (bus available in summer).
There are interesting rock formations at the north end of the beach. The sand is very fine.

It's a beach with waves and sun and very clean.
Nearest metro is Sopela but most things tell you its Sopelana which seems to be the same.
We walked from the metro for 20 minutes but if you have kids or an easier desire get the bus as it seems to be arriving all the time while I'm sat at the bar.
Bit of an easy climb down but loads of sand ( nearly a mile and flat and wide) and showers at the entrance.
A great day trip from Bilboa city for just over €3 return + beer and Pintxos!
Sunset bar at the top is good resting for me.

Very beautiful place but vert dirty. Too much waste along the road that ends on the beach and into the sea.

If you don't mind a lot of waves, you will like the place.
The beach is clean and you will find beach showers and toilets there and a couple of places to buy a snack or something to drink.
There is no shade anywhere and no umbrellas to rent so bring one with you.
The rocks surrounding the beach are beautiful.

We wanted to get to the coast and found this as a highly recommended beach which is easy to get to on the metro. It took about 1/2 hour on a really safe and clean metro train which cost 3 euros return each. A 20 minute walk and you are at the Bay of Biscay. What a view and a friendly part of the world. We had a drink looking at the sea and the sunshine. Good for all members of the family.
