The North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is located in a park-like setting with a peaceful rustic atmosphere. When visiting the centre you will be able to view eagles, several species of owls, falcons, hawks, ravens, and black bears. Rehabilitating eagles can be viewed through one way glass in the largest flight cage if its kind in Canada. Live raptor presentations are regularly scheduled during July and August. The Centre's mandate is the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned native wildlife, with a focus on raptors and black bears. GUIDED TOURS: are available for groups of 15 or more. HOURS OF OPERATION: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 7 days a week, from mid-March through mid- December. 2013 ENTRANCE FEES: $8.00 adults, $5.00 children aged 3-12, plus applicable taxes.

This place is worth at least one visit. It is not a zoo -- it is a home for disabled animals -- mainly birds. The eagle barn and surgery are extra cool. Lots of other interesting things to explore. Worth every cent of the admission....More

This is an animal rescue centre rather than a zoo, so you dont see all the animals up close (bear cubs are kept away from humans to keep them wild). Many of the animals can't be released back to the wild though. Impressive range of...More

This is a rehab facility that is trying to make a difference by helping animals. Very quiet and peaceful and the staff are very passionate about helping the animals. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
