This is one of the best shopping streets in South East Asia. Compares well to Temple Street in Hong Kong. You can have a good bargain and you have the thrill of buying some dodgy products here. Prices are good but it the experience. Must...More

This is a nice bustling place . There's a market for groceries, places to eat , malls to shop , a big beautiful park , near the train station , everything you need for a day out in Japan.

We found the shopping very disappointing. The streets were very narrow and not much of quality for sale. Asakusa is much better and doesn't smell.

Full of friendly vendors inviting you to buy their wares and lots to eat and drink including fresh seafood, kebabs, beer!,strawberries, dried fruit and cakes. This busy market area covers several blocks and is well worth visiting. There are countless vendors, food stalls and restaurants for all your shopping and eating needs. Usually pretty crowded but lots of fun to go through.

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping

Is a guide recommended for this area? I'm mostly interested in the park, not the shopping.

The train station here is a big one. There is a Hard Rock Cafe here in Ueno as well. Sometimes you can see people singing or doing some type of art of the street. Is a nice area

I cannot do much to help since I haven't been to either of them, but my advice is to go to the one that works better for you. Ueno Hotel: a little farther from the station, but cheeper. Average rating in 3.8 APA Hotel... More
