Good visit, the street is adjacent to the temple and has a lot of options for shopping. It's really crowded on Friday evening but still worth the visit!.

There are so many shops, small to medium mostly, with all manner of food treats and meals, festive attire, shoes, fabric, ceramics, souvenirs and gifts all gaily displayed to tempt passersby. We found so much we would have loved to have brought back with us,...More

From hair pins to souvenirs to coffee or cute bags there is something for everyone. Located in the heart of Asakusa this is a must see destination for tourists, along with the river and temples. Easily accessible on the train.

Very very very crowded, but many souvenirs to bring back home! Would love to come here again in the future :)

Great shopping for souvenirs from Japanese traditional dress and Japanese delicacies to lovely silk products. The Makamise Market resembles a traditional style shopping street of a bygone era.

Shopping street with many souvenirs shops along an outdoor market between the sensoji temple and the Hozomon gate. Very touristy and crowded, but good for some gifts to bring back home.

Covered shopping street - totally weatherproof. We were there in winter so it provided for a great respite from the windchill, except at places where there was 'openings' to side streets. Loads of shops and eateries, anything and everything!

Less touristy compared to Nakamise Dori which runs parallel to it. You can buy more than just souvenirs on thsi street.

The only reason I went to this place was to take refuge from a thunder and lightening storm after visiting Senso Ji. However, I actually managed to get a lot of souvenirs from here at a reasonable price. If you're peckish, there are also a...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
