Everytime I am in a new place, I try to go on a ghost tour in that city. Fortunately for me, Lilly was operating one of her Backstreets of Tokyo tours on my last night in Tokyo. (She has several tours but they are not operating daily, so you need to check her schedule and may request for her to... More

Lily is a fab tour guide and really makes the trip! We had a great time on this tour - winding down a few street's we didn't know existed and its a pretty informative tour if you are into Japanese ghosts/horror! Would recommend to all.

My fiancé and his friend weren't really interested in typical spooky stories, but they were immediately hooked on Lily's tales of old Tokyo. She took our small group of 5 just off the main street to several hidden gems in the area. It's amazing how much history is right under our noses in the middle of the bustling city. This... More

If you are expecting a very spooky ghost tour this may not be for you. However, we found the tour to be really interesting and we learned lots about the more ghostly aspects of Japan. Lily was very knowledgable and provided lots of information both about the tour subject and pretty much any other question we asked. Really appreciated the... More

On our recent visit to Japan we decided to do the Backstreets of Tokyo tour as we had read some good reviews about it. After several attempts via email and TripAdvisor we were finally able to schedule a tour. We were a little surprised to see that our tour guide was not native Japanese but in fact an American who... After a strong recommendation from a friend I trust, I wrote and requested a tour (there were none scheduled during our time in Tokyo). Lilly kindly obliged and offered the "Ghosts and Goblins of Old Tokyo" tour. Normally, I don't see myself as a tour-person. Maybe you're like me and just like to discover stuff on your own. You have... More

We took this walking tour during the day, and while that made it not scary, the information Lilly gave us about Samurai and early Tokyo was one of the highlights of our time in Japan. Lilly made the tour, she is full of extra information not readily available to tourists, and took us through the story of the 47 ronin... More

We did the "Backstreets of Tokyo" night tour. Lilly has done a lot of research, and is a great storyteller. While not "terrifying," it was terribly interesting. Walking through the warren of back streets in and of itself was interesting, but we never would have found some of the haunts she took us too. I wish I'd booked a day... More

Despite blazing heat the three hour leisurely and informative walk was a bloody delight from start to finish. Our guide was sweet & her passion was evident & infectious, involving all members (6 of us) in the conversation and tour. There was nothing too strenuous and we had a pit stop for hydration & clean toilets. Watching the 47 ronin... More

We did the "Blood of Samurai" tour and it was the highlight of our stay in Tokyo. I really enjoyed our guide's stories about culture, beliefs and history of Japan and the areas we visited. I have been telling them to my friends at home, too. I will definitely go again if I have a chance to visit Tokyo again.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
