About
Eisa is Okinawa's bon dance. An impressive dance as they beat large and small taiko drums. The Shinjuku Eisa Matsuri started in 2001 when an eisa drum troupe from Okinawa was invited to a local festival. Back then, they had only five troupes and 330 performers. Today, it has become a major event with 25 troupes and over 1,000 performers seen by 1.2 Million spectators. Held annually on the last Saturday of July when Shinjuku turns Okinawan.

Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

新宿の東口大通りを中心に新宿駅周辺の会場でエイサーが披露されるイベントで、東京で沖縄を感じることができるお祭りでした。
昼と夜の二部構成なので、猛暑の今年は昼はかなり暑くなりそうなので、夜に訪れるのもオススメです（夜は17時から20時まで）2018年は7月28日（土）に開催されるので、新宿に行った際はどうぞ！

新宿の７月下旬の恒例行事のお祭りです。エイサーまつりと一緒に沖縄関連の祭りも行われ、屋台なども出て賑やかになります。
メイン行事は新宿通りを封鎖して、エイサーを踊っているところで迫力があり、沖縄旅行気分が味わえます。

新宿駅一帯が沖縄ムード一色になる、夏のビッグイベントです。昼の部は、アルタ前の通りを踊り歩きます。迫力のある太鼓の音に独特の踊り。毎年楽しみにしています。今年は７月２９日（土）開催です。

いつの間にか新宿の恒例行事になっている沖縄フェスティバルです。
沖縄料理の屋台や沖縄の踊りなど、新宿の街全体を使って、かなり賑わいます。
踊りは迫力があって、いつまで見ていても飽きません。

東京にいながら、本格的なエイサーを見ることができました。迫力満点のエイサーに釘付けです。ただし昨年はとても暑く、熱中症対策が必要でした。

新宿の地で沖縄を体験できる、といった感じのお祭りです。沖縄料理の屋台は沢山あって美味しく、沖縄の踊りもとても楽しかったです。

新宿三丁目から新宿駅に向かう伊勢丹や丸井の前の大通りを道路を通行止めにし、大音量を流しながら、民族衣装をまとった人だちがエイサー踊りをしていました。

要は沖縄風盆踊りなのですが、衣装もユニークで、熱気のこもった太鼓や声掛け、おどりがみられます。よさこいとはちがった魅力がありました。
