The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

Cool place, on a high end side. Accross from new Shibuya Scramble Square.
Few shops and restaurants. Right above the station

We visited Shibuya Hikarie but it was under construction til further notice. I hope this was announced to tourists online to save time and effort before they visit. Great building though.

Had a visit here to eat sushi in one of those restaurants where you can pick your plates from a rotating belt. Food is ordered from a tablet at the table, and billed thanks to some kind of sensors linked to the plates. Very funny, in very central Tokyo.

Shibuya Hikarie is one of the tallest buildings in Shibuya next to Shibuya Station. The shops here are a bit more high end than others in Shibuya and there is an upscale department store ShinQ (by Tokyo). There are also quite a few good restaurants, for example Tokatsu Maisen. There is also a viewing observatory called the Sky Lobby on the 11th floor where you can get very good views of Shibuya and nearby Shinjuku. Best of all its free to go to the Sky Lobby. Finally there is also a movie theater in the 12th floor just above the Sky Lobby.

I will remember the very nice food court - by lack of a better name. By no means does it compare to an American or European food court. Picture a deli with fresh produce, impeccably clean shiny floors. Now multiply by twelve or so. Great quality for no money at all.
The view from the Sky Lounge is nice though not spectacular. Free anyway. Better views from the Metropolitan Govt Building in Shinjuku.
Still a very nice shopping mall.

Sure, Shibuya Hikarie has all of the usual suspects in a shopping mall. It also has good dining choices in the 6th floor, Unagi, Tonkatsu, to name a few, and a great theater on the top floor, where we were fortunate to view Evita.

This is just another big shopping complex offering food outlets and a variety of shops. There is also a theatre there. The viewing floor allows for views towards Shibuya Scramble Crossing in the distance. It is worth a look at the expansive views offer Tokyo and for shopping if this interests you.

It’s just a big shopping centre. You can see the scrabble crossing but nothing fantastic. There are better places to go to view the scramble crossing.

Cool views of Shibuya on the 11th floor, and not to mention it's free! Tip: go here in the morning so that the Shibuya landscape is properly lit by the sun behind you otherwise during the afternoon you would be staring directly into the sunset. If you can't in the morning, might as well go late afternoon to see Shibuya start to get lit up
