I’m not sure what people expect from this, please approach Tokyo Tower knowing that it is a basically a tourist destination as a great option for city views. It was enjoyable & a nice family friendly place to visit but won’t fill your day with entertainment. We went on a clear day in February during school holidays & there wasn’t... More

Was in Tokyo with my wife on business. Decided to take a mile walk from hotel to see this attraction. I believe it was a bit overrated. It's I believe the 2nd tallest structure in Tokyo about 1/2 the height of SkyTree. However 2nd level was closed for renovations. I said to myself "tourist trap". So to me it wasn't... More

A place to go and see views of Tokyo that are easily found for free if you know where to go e.g. The top of the government building in Shinjuku which is open to the public. Tokyo tower is certainly not worth a special visit or the money

This is definitely a tourist trap, but there is a nice view. There is a nice temple nearby, and some restaurants onsite. It is probably much better to walk a few blocks more and find plentiful restaurants near subway stops.

Initially this is something I was going to omit from my trip, but one night we found ourselves free and thought we would go. Not the cheapest attraction by far but absolutely worth the money! Coming from Perth, Australia seeing Tokyo lit up at night was a magical experience and one I won't be forgetting any time soon.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
