Real life real cool

If you are in the area and into giant 80s robots stop by this one! Lights up in the dark. And if you're lucky you might even see it take off! ;-)

First thing is its in Odaiba: not covered by JR pass. Worth it because: first its free to view Gundam and I got to try a small dessert worht only 220 yen. Next is there is a small Hello Kitty Cafe inside the mall where Gundam is located hehehe

Loved seeing this and our toddler was also very amused by the big robot! Right next to the diver city mall and walking distance to the Toyota megaweb. A lovely day out walking and exploring odaiba.

The Gundam model is simply awesome. The decals are sick. I wasn't into the thing but after seeing how beautifully they were made, I see now why people love it.

Absolutely a must visit if you are a fan of the Gundam anime. A shopping mall with a level just for a Gundam musenum. Best day ever for a blast from the past.

Admittedly I know nothing about Gundam and wouldn't know it from a Transformer if I hadn't read otherwise. Yet there's something really cool about the statue. It's cool at night because it gets illuminated; especially right now in mid November because of the surrounding Christmas lights in the surrounding area. If you're like me and don't know anything about Gundam... More

If you visit from December to January, you will also have a chance to witness the Gunpla Builders World Cup where gundam model kit competitors from around the world showcase their modified and painted kits. Aside from the 1:1 model of Gundam RX 78 displayed outside, this event is another one worth visiting. The model kits for sale here would... More

One of the "must see" trip. The statue is so perfectly built, that really look alive as many reviewers commented. All the family will love, from your kids to mom and daddy. Entrance to the isle is free. Picures and selfie will be amazing...

You come here because you're a big nerd who likes big robots. If you really love Gundam and mechas, you'll spend the whole day here acting like a kid. Pay the extra twelve bucks for the dome movies (inexplicably cool - the closest thing you'll get to standing on earth and seeing Gundams fight in the sky above you) and... More

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighbourhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
