It's a nice and beautiful shrine and worth your time. The soba place right outside of the shrine is very good as well.

Went here as part of a walking tour. Unfortunately it was election time and one of the local candidates decided to visit at the same time we got there. Needless to say, there were TV/news camera crews all over the place because of that so it took a little away from the solemnity of a temple/shrine. I'm sure on any... More

This temple is very colorfull and the atmosphere is very nice. We had the chance to have a glance to a Shinto mass, and see the traditionnal clothes of the Shinto priest. A bit hard to find, but worth the trouble !

Due to its location is close to Akihabara, this shrine is famous for its relations to AKB48, Japanese girls pop group. 秋葉原からも御茶ノ水からも近く、新年はビジネスマンがこの一年間のビジネスの成功を祈りに来ます。 またAKB48が成人式の時に詣でるのも有名ですね。

I visited this shrine shortly after New Years, when it was extremely crowded. Despite how busy it was the people working there were still extremely helpful. There are many different omamoris available here, including one to protect your computer and phone. The goshuin at this particular shrine also has a very unique and cute stamp, and is only 300 yen.

Go there and pray, buy some amulets, and then head to the little booth beside which sells Love Live merchandise, which is exclusive to this shrine. For fans, you can purchase the wooden board and write down your wish, and hang it at the shrine.

Beautiful. If you are in the area of Ueno or Akihabara def try to see this. Seeing this and experiencing the reverence and beauty is difficult to put into words. Loved our visit here.

For a foreigner a must see as it is the oldest temple in Tokyo (built in 730), which is particularly known for bringing business luck.

Just minutes from busy Akihabara Kanda Myojin is an oasis of traditional culture most instructive to Western visitors. It was a delight to watch formally dressed families on a recent warm November sunny morning. The main Shinto Shrine, the main gate Zuishin-mon and numerous ancilliary buildings on a small hill form this island of tranquility. Kanda Myojin is one of... More

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
