Address
Neighbourhood: Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza. It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels, world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular with anyone looking for a night out.

The National Garden leads you to the Imperial Palace from the East. There are places for children to run and play on the grass and the Nanko Resthouse is here, with food, toilets, tourist information, and souvenirs.

This is the outer garden of the Imperial Palace and is open grass with a number of Japanese furs. It has the statue of Kusunoki, a Meiji Era samurai warrior. It has a moat and stone walls seen in the palace itself.

This area is not to be missed. Wear you walking shoes and bring a camera (phone) and have fun. The circumference of the Palace is just beautiful with large stone fortified walls, tranquil moat and well manicured landscape. Enjoy

I was here in March and most trees were without leaves, but to see this just before the leaves change in full green gives a complete different effect. This is a park that needs to be seen in all seasons to understand its design. Their is access the top of the wall to have a view of the surrounding area of the east side of the palace.

The gardens of the Imperial Palace provide a green space in the center of the busy city, and link to what was the SHogun;s castle before the Meiji Restoration of 1868. Parts of the castle can still be viewed, including gates and small guard towers, but much of the garden is rather Western in flavor.
