It's small and really just a shop selling classic prints and general merch, with overpriced merchandise. Much better shops around Akihabara.

My sister loves anime and wanted to visit the Tokyo Anime Center. It took us about an hour of walking around just to find it. GPS would point us somewhere but it wasn't the correct spot. The shop is small with nothing much in it. My sister spent about 5 minutes in there and was done. She much preferred the... More

We weren't anime fans, but thought it would be interesting to learn a little about the popularity of anime. Well, we din't learn anything at the Anime Center. It was difficult to find and our cab driver never heard of this place, so we had to google our phone for twenty minutes before we found the place. It wasn't worth... More

This area of tokyo is amazing and full of activities. Having grown up with Gundam shows myself I was running around like a kid in a candy store. But if you come, plan on staying for several hours because the stores have multiple levels and each floor specializes in different things such as "Sailor Moon" , Gundam, pokemon, card games... More

Travel by bicycle all the way here to see a small room of 30+ sketches, little kids shopping for small anima cards, 1 doll figure and few TV screens. All this in a super small room.

I am not anime fan at all but this place is sooo amazing. Probably that was the best attraction which we saw in Tokyo. Must be on every visit there !

The Anime Center is more about being anime central. Many shops, a thriving outdoor market......all selling anime. And there was a lot of it. I'm not an anime fan but I was very impressed with what I saw and experienced. If you're into anime, this is a one stop shop for you. Walk around, explore the side streets and travel... More

Maybe I was missing something but... an anime centre?! Some sketches in a glass case and a small shop. No idea what the fuss is about.

Lots of Anime lovers come to Tokyo in hope of a great museum, quite disappointing to be honest, some scetches and posters to be seen and not a lot in the way of souvenirs on offer. However it's a great place to get free wifi as a traveller and some information about Tokyo so still very worth a visit.

It was an interesting exhibition going there but aside that and taking some maps of Akiba there is nothing more to see. But if you want to see a good anime check it.

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
