The staff at Scattery Island tours could not be more helpful and friendly. A boat takes you to the island from Kilrush Marina. Once on the island you can have a tour or set off at your own pace. The churches and round bell tower are interesting, as is the Napoleonic Fort at the end of the island, best viewed... More

The island is abandoned, but the history is still alive. There are things here that you cannot find anywhere else in Ireland. The tour company was nothing short of amazing! They saw to our every need, and made the experience one we’ll never forget. Thanks, Irene and Crew! Note: if possible, stay for four hours. That will allow enough time... More

This a great island to visit for a family day trip serviced from Kilrush marina by local tour operator "Scattery Island Tours". My Family and I visited there earlier this month on a really nice day and it was a wonderful experience. The Ferry trip is about 15 minutes from Kilrush and runs over and back numerous times each day.... More

On a recent trip to Co Clare last month we came across Scattery Island Tours and said we would give it a go. What a great surprise trip it turned out to be. It was amazing from start to finish. The staff were very helpful and we had a very smooth crossing in a very comfortable 12 seater boat to... More

This will amaze you a lovely place and visit. I think this is now owned by the town and the best place for a historic look at the past pf the Irish republican heritage.

A wonderful experience to explore the monastic 6th century site of the island founded by St.Senan. The island has the remains of a Cathedral,Round Tower ,and among other things is home to an array of wild birds, The views on the island are spectacular as you gaze along the mighty Shannon,If you want a day out to forever remember this,... We had a wonderful time visiting the island; sailing was a pleasure, on board a comfortable small boat suited for any weather, it didn't feel crowded, which I was afraid of. The staff extremely helpful and informative and the ancient sites covered with wild flowers were taking us out of this world. There is a sense of tangible spirituality and... More

If you like a bit of the past this is a excellent place to visit with all the different churches and grave yards there's plenty hear. Not to mention the old village and for the adventurous the remains of the old gun battery there is a lot of walking involved but the history is worth it. The guides are very... More

A boat trip takes you to this lovely island with a wealth of eclesiatical history and heritage and a fort from Napoleonic times. Nobody lives there apart from the rabbits and the kestrels that prey on them. It is magical and wonderfully unspoilt - no cafe, no paved or tarmac walkways - and it needs to stay that way.

we were blessed with beautiful weather which always helps but this site is just a gem. It collection of national monuments are so impressive as well as the more recent vernacular buildings and the round tower is exceptional. the two wonderful guides Michael and John did a great job taking us around. it would be great if the ongoing works...
