We tried to get here from Cagliari, and spent over 2 hours making three separate approaches down three separate farm tracks, only to be met by locked fences at each one.

Apparently, as we later read from an Italian review, there is indeed no signage on how to get here, and many of the entrances *do* close in the off season. If you're lucky enough to find someone who can point you to the right entrance (good luck...) you apparently have to pay an entry fee.

We visited 4 weeks after the storms devastated the area in Oct 2018. The roads had been washed away and the paths often covered in rocks from the mountainside. The visitor centre was unsurprisingly not open but we had a lovely walk if you don’t mind rock hopping to cross the rivers. I would suggest it will take months if not years to return the roads and paths to normal and highly recommend proper hiking boots, in fact I would go as far as to say for a while this location is only for the adventurous and check with the appropriate authorities before visiting.

We followed one of the well marked routes from the information centre. The walk was about 6 kilometres and we didn't see a soul for the two hours or so that we were out. The scenery was stunning especially as you climbed higher up the mountain. Some of the walk was pretty hard going and there were two areas where you had to scramble across loose rocks. Lots of lizards and butterflies to see.
