About
A journey through the HISTORY OF RUM.During the Arehucas Guided Tour visitors can enjoy the facilities of our distillery, full of history, tradition and work well done. Besides explaining the process of making our rums the tour allows us to visit one of the oldest rum cellars in Europe, made up of 4,308 american oak barrels. This tour through the history of rum in the Canary Islands takes 45 minutes and consists of 5 stages: Origin of Arehucas; visit to the cellar where the ageing process is carried out; learning about the rum processing and visit to the mill and the fermentation and distillation rooms. Visit to the bottling plant and tasting of some of our wide variety of rums and liqueurs. At the end of the visit, you can purchase the Destilerias Arehucas products.

Yes, for 7 Euros each and the chance to sample various rum combinations at the end of the tour this is extremely good value and a great thing to do in Arucas.
For me though, this is very much about the story of why rum and why there. We went on an English guided tour and I felt our guide lacked any enthusiasm or showed any personality. Her English wasn’t great and she certainly wasn’t up to answering questions.
I know we missed out on some useful information as I overheard the next English tour start as we finished ours and the guide on that one informed her party of several material facts before they’d even left the courtyard at the start. We didn’t get any of that information which was sad.
An opportunity missed.

Awesome place with deep, perfect smell of rum filling thousands of barrels. Warmest feelings go to Andrea - great guide ready to share all the knowledge about the place, its history, the production of rum and all of its kinds, and really everything you are going to meet on a tour. In the end you can choose 4 different types of liquors to try by yourself - yes! Andrea is still there serving you :)
*if you’re lucky to be guided by her ;)
There is something one of kind - the 2002 Arehucas Pedro Ximémez Sherry Cask Finish which needs you to pay additional 7 euros to taste but if you decide to purchase you’ll get a discount of the same value and we highly advise to get it as it’s going to end pretty soon - the bottles you can find in a picture are probably the last ones. No future release of this one is gonna happen.
Cheers Andrea 🥃🥃😊

Dear Discover511435,
thank you very much for visiting us, for your interest in the rich tradition of rum in the Canary Islands and for the excellent rating on Tripadvisor.
We are very proud that you describe so enthusiastically the experience of the guided tour of our centenary distillery and that you enjoyed tasting our rums and liqueurs, especially our Arehucas 2002 Single Cask Pedro Jiménez Sherry Cask Finish, an exceptional vintage rum and, as you point out, ephemeral, as we only have 20 bottles left.
We are very pleased that the professionalism of our colleague Andrea stands out. We place the utmost importance on friendliness and excellence in the performance of our team.
We are working on innovations to make the Arehucas Experience even more attractive and hope to see you soon to enjoy them with us.
Best regards,

The tours are organised regurarly during the day - both in English and Spanish- so after purchasing the tickets we just had to wait few minutes for the guide.
The tour took about an hour and was really informative. Our guide Bryan explained everyting about rum production. During the tour we even got to see the factory up close. At the end there was also a tasting of their products where each person could try 4 different products.
Overall would definitely reccomend the tour.

I don’t know if any tour that takes in the distillery. we took the bus there as it was quick cheap & station was right by it.
With hindsight we could have driven back after a good lunch and a walk around Arucas, based on the amount of tasting we did but glad we played it safe.
