There is a lift to the top for a small fee but if you can manage the walk up it is quite steep but plenty of places to stop on the way. There is a cafe bar at the top which is very relaxing and has fantastic views of the city.

A most accessible walk to the top offers several choices of approach from an elevator to a car park or walk. The effort whatever way you choose is well rewarded as the vies from the top are superb overlooking Alicante city, Port, Marina , beaches and mountains. Afternoon light rewards with the sunset and the walk back through the bustle... More

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. We walked to the castle instead of using the lift and do glad we did. It's tiring but the views are spectacular. The area is a surprise with a welcome cafe at the peak. It's a little challenging if you have children as the walls are very low and there's little to stop you toppling over!!... More

A very pleasant and a nice walk going upward to the fort. You will enjoy the view of the city of Alicante and progressively discover a new facets of the city. Plenty of rooms to visit in the castle in addition to the astonishing view. I strongly recommend this visit, for people having mobility problem I would recommend the elevator.

We took the lift up to the Castell, the walk to the lift took some time throug a tunnel but was ok, the view from the Castell over the city and the see and landcape is amazing. There are lot to see in the Castell and you can spend a whole day there. We took the walk down from the... More

This was amazing my sister is in a wheelchair and there was a lift which took you to the top and then we used it to come down through the different floors levels where we got out and found it easy to make our way around it was very wheelchair friendly when you consider the age of the buildings.

The castle sits atop of an amazing rock, its quite astonishing to thing what must have gone into the building of this monument. Previous reviews give very good information on how to get up there. Once there the grounds are large and there are lots of information areas, museums and view points. Some of the buildings are on a grand... More

Seeing my daughter, son in law and granddaughter were spending some time with myself and wife at the end of December, decided to take them to all to Alicante. The ladies of course wished to visit the shops. My son in law and I had a different idea. So I suggested we visit the castle via the lift. It was... More

If you have mobility problems think twice about the walk up as it is a good 45 minutes to one hour from the road at the bottom and its steep most of the way up. Alternatively take a taxi to a parking area inside the main gates and you are nearly at the top. Plenty of buildings and rooms to... More

Having explored the Alicante promenade walk area, marina and old town on previous day and night, this was the next obvious thing to do. We decided to set out early morning (about 9) to get up there early enough to have a look around and then have time to walk back down through the old town for tapas and drinks... More
