I was visiting NSU for work and had a chance to see a bit of the campus. It reminded me a bit of the school I went to in Missouri. The buildings are all well maintained and close together making it easy to navigate from building to building. The students and staff were very friendly as were all the people I had a chance to interact with. It’s much more beautiful than many of the campuses I’ve had an opportunity to visit. I envy the students who get to attend this school.

NSU has many different degree opportunities. Come to a university where professors really do know your name AND care about YOU and your success! The beautiful campus holds lots of history and tradition in Native American Roots. Many opportunities to be involved on campus and in the local community. Close proximity to local activities such as fishing, hiking, and floating the river.

If you’re looking for an alternative to huge, impersonal campuses, this could be your best choice. There’s a breadth of degree options, a positive campus environment that is located in the foothills of the Ozark mountains and in the capital of the Cherokee Nation with lakes and rivers and wilderness nearby that offer recreational activities. We’ve attended several activities including lectures by top speakers, musical performances and spent time on campus (I’m well past college age) observing the energy of the young men and women attending the school. The college of optometry has an arrangement with the Cherokee Nation to provide services at their brand new (2019) cutting edge facility that affords students a great opportunity to see many different vision related conditions and enjoy an outstanding learning environment. All in all a really good school for undergrad work and several professional post grad degrees.

They bent to political correctness instead of heritage and tradition. U graduated as a Northeastern Redman and will always remain. It has nothing to do with race or color. At one point we had a sport rider. A Native American.

I can't say enough about the concerts I have attended at NSU. They either are free or very low cost. Not enough local people take advantage of these offerings right here in our area. I saw a visiting concert pianist here not too long ago that presented a free concert; the same concert in a big city would have cost me at least $50 for a ticket. The student concerts are also of high caliber. We have faculty that present concerts in their specialty. Wind ensembles, jazz bands, soloists, choral concerts, operas, musicals are all presented here at the NSU Performing Arts Center or the Jazz Lab. Don't miss out on this. Go on line and get the concert schedule.

Apparently, very few people outside Tahlequah, Oklahoma know of the historical significance of Northeastern Oklahoma State University (NSU) other than its use as a state university. This site and some of its buildings served as the Cherokee Female Seminary long before it became NSU owned and operated by the state of Oklahoma. My grandfather who was born in Tahlequah actually built some of this university. Double Springs, located in the front of NSU's campus served as a source of water for much of Tahlequah's residents who had no wells. My father actually filled barrels with water from these springs during the 1920s. In addition. Double Springs was a landmark mentioned in a few history book stories including one that involved the murder of a Sheriff from Arkansas.
When I first visited Tahlequah in the 1990s, I spent an entire day in their library reviewing documents that had been donated by the Andrew Nave family and documents written to and by Chief John Ross. Many of these documents were originals. On my last visit to NSU in September 2015, I was shown an original of the treaty signed by Stand Watie ending the Cherokee's involvement in the Civil War.
NSU has historical significance little known outside of Tahlequah.

Loved the welcome campus environment with great faculty, students, and community members for the conference. Coffee place on campus has some well rounded customer service with great wi-fi connection. Loved the free parking for visitors on days of the conference with great parking attendants that monitored the parking lot for visitors to park instead of driving around trying to locate a spot.

The campus has lots of historical buildings and statues, like one of Sequoyah in the Centennial Plaza. The main building looks like something out of Harry Potter.

Northeastern State University (NSU) is a great place to visit to see some of the oldest buildings in the area. NSU does offer tours of Seminary Hall, however Wilson hall is currently closed for renovations. Haskell hall is also a historic building but has been converted into classrooms, so it doesn't have much historic interior left. The campus is said to have one of every tree native to Oklahoma.
As a college, it is a great place to attend. With lots of activities in the area, there is always something to do (outside of the classroom)!
